Songs about the hobby
Probably the best known song about the hobby is "House of the Rising Sun", the lament of a soiled dove, probably dates back to Storyville before World War One in New Orleans. A 17 year old Welsh lad from some industrial hellhole in Great Britan made it a huge hit in the sixties (Eric Burton and the Animals).
Another is Ruth Brown singing "If I can't sell it; I'll sit on it", a great R'n'B hit.
My personal favorite: a honky-tonk hit from the 1970's "Love on a hot afternoon".
Hit me with another!

Charlotte the Harlot---Iron Maiden
If you’re feeling down depressed and lonely
I know a place where we can go
22 Acacia Avenue meet a lady that I know
So if you’re looking for a good time
And you’re prepared to pay the price
Fifteen quid is all she asks for
Everybody’s got their vice
