FiveThirtyEight is the latest liberal media outlet “objectively” degrading black Republicans and those who support them. It
published “Why White Voters With Racist Views Often Still Support Black Republicans” on Nov. 10. The objective of the article is simple: delegitimize black Republicans who run for office by providing baseless accusations about the people who support them.
The key to this piece is the semantic creation of a new idea of what racism is. The authors of the article assert that someone can still be a racist and support a black Republican. Obviously, this statement is sheer lunacy, but it shows the depths of insanity to which these people sink.
“But supporting a Black candidate hardly precludes voters from harboring racist beliefs and motivations,” the article on
FiveThirtyEight states. “Black Republicans like Sears often draw especially strong support from white Americans with otherwise anti-Black views simply because they draw most of their support from Republican voters.”
The article states that “Republicans are increasingly more likely than Democrats to hold prejudiced views of minorities.” It cites this
link from the Princeton University Press about left-wing authors on a book they published as its basis for that claim — despite the overview of the book not saying anything about Republicans having prejudiced views of minorities.
Furthermore, the article uses a graph evaluating the support of Ben Carson’s candidacy by some Republicans as “evidence” to try to prove its point. In a graph titled “Prejudiced whites supported Carson in 2016,” it shows the data obtained from the polling question “How much influence do African Americans have in politics?” The authors of the piece highlight the data of the respondents who answered the predetermined category of “too much” as their “evidence” to show prejudiced Republicans supported Carson.
This poll establishes nothing about discrimination or prejudice.
However, those on the Left must present this to keep their cherished narrative of racism in mainstream American society. They realize that black Republicans pose a serious threat to their power and influence. As such, they write hogwash such as this
