A Run in with LE!!!
So, let me set the scene. About two weeks ago, I was on my way home from a poker game at about 2:30 am with my Significant Other (SO). We are in a new candy apple ford mustang GT, driving through the Shops of Legacy in Plano on a Friday night. My SO is driving and we both have had been drinks. Bad, Bad, Bad situation!!! We are laughing, listen to music, and happy because we won second place. We get passed the Shops when we see LE lights in the mirrors. I'm a little freaked, because of the drinking.
Well, about a year ago my SO and I bought this service called LegalShield, and with this service we have 24/7 access to an Attorney in case the LE want to question, detain, or arrest us. When the officer came to the car, he said we where going 14 mile over the speed limit, and asked if we had been drinking. My SO explained where we were and that we had a couple drinks. LE takes our information and goes back to his cop car. My SO, pulls out our Legalshield card, looks at me, and said, "If he gets me out of the car, I'm going to see if this thing works."
So, he asks my SO out of the car, I rolled do the window to hear, then my SO hands the officer our card. He said "What is this?" and my So said, "I'm informing you that I have an attorney in case you want to question, detain, or arrest me." The cop looks at the card and then look at my SO. He said, "Step over here, please." and gives my SO the pen and eye drinking test. After the test, hands the cards back to my SO and said, "Now that you are out of the car, I don't smell any alcohol. I'm going to assume your friend is the one who has been drinking and you are driving her home." Shaking his head Yes. So, my SO said while shaking his head, "Yes, Officer." He said, "I'm going to let you off with a warning today, but slow down, and drive safe." He hands the card back to my SO and asked, "What's with the card?" All inquisitive looking. My SO, explained the service and gave him a business card to the lady who sold it to us.
OMG, this card is awesome. We laughed the whole way home. It was such a relief, a DWI would have really effed up our life. This card kept him out of jail, no huge fines, and a DWI off his driving record. I think everyone in the hobby could use this service. It has a lot of other benefits with it, like traffic tickets, IRS, and trail representation, plus a Will and unlimited legal advice, but the 24/7 access to an attorney was the reason I got it. AND, IT'S ONLY $26 a month. I don't have to pay thousands for an Attorney on retainer, besides he wouldn't have answered my phone call at 2:30 in the morning. If you want to know how to get this service, Call me at 214-546-1343 or PM me I will give you the ladies number.

Glad your stop turned out in your favor.
A couple of notes (from the non-attorney): Having the card basically says "I know my rights." Anyone who can remember them in a stressful situation like a police stop is really under the same protection. You don't have to pay to have it. And while the card may have had the cop think "This isn't worth my time," it us HIGHLY unlikely that it will deter an officer from either writing a ticket (if in fact you were speeding) or detaining you (if he truly suspected you were under the influence) if he is of a mind to. If he thinks he has evidence of a crime, he can and often will detain you. This seems more like a case where he thought that he didn't have the case, and just said '"fuckit" to writing a speeding ticket.
Not to say cheap legal advice and help is a BAD thing...just don't expect it to be an actual "get out of jail" card. You are just as well off to know your rights, keep your mouth shut and follow through with an actual attorney if you are arrested or cited.

So it's the card version of ShysterJon?
Would the card have helped if this was one of those No Refusal weekends?

+5 internets for S-Man being able to fit ShysterJon in his wallet.
And pyramider: last time I tried that, the guy wanted to inspect the taint to prove I wasn't lying. *shudder*

Just uhh... hmm. Legalshield (formerly known as Prepaid Legal and still using that domain name) is a pretty well known multilevel marketing company that operates similar to Amway etc.
Just do your research is all I'm sayin'.

The card probably had a whole lot less to do with it than your SO being lucid did. Just for starters, try that card when you really need it sometime, like to get compensation from a dog groomer or a busted rental contract...
Just sayin'

I did Amway years ago, and you have to be an associate to buy Amway products. I'm NOT a LegalShield Associate. And you don't have to be representative to buy this service. Prepaid Legal, was bought by another company and renamed it LegalShield a year ago. I don't know, what you know about prepaid legal, but LegalShield, I have had nothing but good service. My SO and I, both, got our living and death Will's gone, and it didn't cost us anything out of pocket.
I'm not say this service will get you out of a speeding ticket or DWI, I'm just telling you my experience and letting you guys know it is out their, if interested. And, one difference between tell the officer you know your rights and actually handing the office a card is, I actually could call the 800 number on the card and talk to an attorney. I did it after to see if they would answer my call and see what my right were. And, they did answer and talk to me.

I used when my apartment complex was charging me 3500 in damaged to my apartment, because a sprinkler bust in my bathroom. The attorney wrote a letter to the complex and the owners wrote me a letter about a week later, after receiving the certified letter for the attorney, saying they were dropping the charges and would even drop my rent 150 a month if I resign my lease. I moved out but I got all of my deposit back.

You have to go one step farther: "I'm Duke of G, and I have ShysterJon in my wallet."

I think the point comparing this to amway is not whether it works but that it is a multi-level marketing thing...
OP, will you or your SO get any financial benefit or services through someone ordering this via the phone number posted above?

Being inebriated in the passenger seat is not a free pass. The officer could have pulled you from the car and done the same field sobriety test to you and cited you for public intoxication.

Sounds to me like a "happy shudder" from the Duke.
