Default Ruger LC in .45

Anybody, anything? Looks like a lot of fun in .45 vs 9mm. Picture shown with Glock extended 26 round magazine.

Looks fun....but how much are .45 rounds these days? Not a bad price on the rifle.

I use this already set up for Remington UHC .45 in 230 grain. It shows 34 cents a round, which is a lot cheaper than Bass Pro Shops or Academy, HOWEVER the shipping charge is around $55 which brings the price up quickly. Even though it's more expensive than it would seem with shipping, it's still a bit cheaper than BPS and Academy. Since I'm getting a very popular round from Remington, I still pay the shipping. Now if were some ammo I'm not familiar with, I would buy it on site.

https://ammoseek.com/ammo/45acp/Remi...dgun-230grains

I bought the weapon from familyfirearms for $740 drive out plus $40 FFL, while Carters Country has one for $850 plus tax, etc. Marksman Range doesn't have any, like Bass Pro, Academy doesn't have one, and lastly Texas Gun Club has one for $861 plus the normal fees. No FFL fee at either TGC or CC. So I'm very happy with the pricing at https://www.familyfirearms.com/produ...ld-adj-blk-13r

Nice!

Glad to see offerings and people buying things that are not AK/ARs.

I do think there is a solid place for the PCC in a lot of urban and suburban settings.

Bonus, Glock compatible magazines are cheap and plentiful.

Could you imagine how much fun this would be in full auto?

Did you consider the 10mm version of this carbine?

No, when I saw it was in .45 it gained my immediate attention. To be honest, I really don't know much about 10mm, however I know that with the .45 ammo is plentiful plus one of the salesmen at some gun store told me that the 10mm was one it's way out. Now I don't know if this is true or not, however I fully trust and respect you on 'shooting' straight with gun owners about 10 mm.

One irony about looking up the availability and pricing of .45 ammo. I keep on hitting the button for rifle ammo because this is a rifle, however I have to go through the handgun ammo to find it.

10mm has a solid following. Especially those that need power and penetration when facing dangerous animals in the woods (think bears/big pigs). It's been counted out before and keeps getting new disciples. Uncle Ted writes about it quite a bit in his books. You can find it at most places that have a respectable ammo selection (like Academy) or easily online. My 10mm Glock 20C has no issues eating up .40 S&W (40 Short and Weak) when I come across some cheap for plinking. With the 10mm you gain a lot more energy, penetration and speed in a smaller package over the .45ACP. I've used Double Tap 230 grain hardcast to put a few big boars dick in the dirt.

Look into the full bore loads offered by folks like Double Tap and Buffalo Bore. Hornady and Federal both make respectable self defense loads. Be wary of the "FBI loadings" they were downloaded so the girly men at the FBI could handle the recoil. That lead to the development of the .40. I was so happy once upon a time when I acquired a few boxes of FBI duty ammo. Well until I shot it and realized if was severely neutered.

It's definitely a cartridge worth looking into.

After the fact, I had forgotten about checking the pricing and availability of that gun shop you talked to me about up in Atascocita. Given the same pricing, I may have bought from them. I just forgot until I read your postings in this thread.

You also mentioned .40 which I was told by someone at either an ammo shop or the gun range, and that person mentioned both the .40 and 10 mm were on their way out.

So can you give me a quick comparison between the .40 and 10 mm versus the .45?

The LEO community is ditching the once immensely popular .40 for the 9mm. The difficulty to handle for a lot of rank and file caused issues. Being a derivative of the 10mm, the parent still packs a punch that is also not friendly for those not equipped for the recoil. If you hand load the 10mm to it's max safe levels you can double the power of the .45. Factory fodder is not quite that strong with the mainstream manufacturers keeping their offerings well below the max.

The 10mm is a powerful round that fills a need that for many the .45 can't, especially in the hunting and outdoor security arena.

Most every hand gun manufacturer offers a current model chambered in the 10. Even High Point has a few, including a carbine. Glock has 7 models. S&W has both semi-auto and revolvers in their catalogue. Sig has 4 to choose from. Colt has their classic Delta Elite in 10mm. Check out the CMMG Banshee in 10 of you want a lot of firepower in a small PDW. Plus a lot of smaller brands have models in that caliber.

All those are current offerings, so I don't think it's going away anytime soon.

I do admit that the hype train has slowed down since the FBI went batshit crazy on the caliber (after the Miami shootout), and then ditched it. It's a mans caliber and defiantly not suited for everyone.

While I got rid of every .40S&W I've ever owned, I did keep the 10's as it's my go to gun on my hip when in the woods.

Tip, that shop I told you about was probably not the best choice for your purchase. Don't think they do cheap transfers and that carbine is not their specialty. I'm sure you did your research and got the best price and transfer you could.

Any thoughts on SGM or KCI for factory replacement mag?

I just watched a youtube where the 10mm kicks .45 ass.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fJ0OwdL8eY

I know the pro mag sucks for AK47 users. I had a brand new pro mag and it didn't make 25 rounds (I only load 25 rounds in a 30 round mag) without jamming around 5 times. So because of this, I'm a bit leery about factory replacement mags. Maybe it was just my tough luck with one magazine, maybe it's because pro mags just suck. Either way, I won't be buying another one of their magazines.

As far as guns with 'balls' goes, I have access to a Colt Anaconda and a S and W model 29 both in .44 magnum. I may go home with sore hand and forearm, but I always go home with a big smile.

If you like those, you will like the centimeter.

As far as magazines, obviously factory Glock magazines would probably be the best, but, they will be limited in capacity and a bit more expensive.

You might try magazines made for the KRISS Vector, they will work. You could also consider the KRISS magazine extension kits for regular Glock magazines.

For a .45, I have 1911s, don't have any Glocks so I don't have much experience with the other brands of magazine. I've had good luck with the translucent ETS magaines in 9mm. However I have a buddy that hates that brand. You luck may vary.

I'm surprised that MagPul or 2ndAmend don't offer mags for that. I've had good luck with both of those brands.

Good Luck

I've decided I'm going to track one down. Need to see if binary trigger will fit in it.
