Default Chinese Food

Hello All,

I have been searching for GOOD Chinese Food in San Antonio where I live. And I mean the good stuff not the food with UBS or Ubiquitous Brown Sauce on everything which makes it all taste the same.

I'll be in town this weekend near the Galleria and was wondering if there are any good places near that area as I don't know my way around town. Please, I'm desperate, and hungry for REAL Chinese Food. My favorites are Hot and Sour Soup, Dumplings, and Orange Chicken.

HELP

XOXO

Chinese Café at 5092 Richmond (between 610 and Sage) seems to attract a lot of native Chinese diners, as well as gweilos. Very convenient to the Galleria.

A few Bellaire tips. There is real chinese food and american style chinese food. IE, they don't eat food like Taco Bell in Mexico; Spaghettios is not the same as food in Italy.

A non-chinese person walking into a restaurant on Bellaire may get the "American Menu" and the real chinese food menu is in chinese.

Walk into a restaurant on Bellaire run by people from Guangzhou and the Sichuan dishes will taste like crap.

Recommendations:
Peking Cuisine: gessner/ hwy 59. Peking Duck, sichuan dishes
Star Snow Ice; 9889 Bellaire, Dun Huang Plaza. Beef noodle soup, fried fish, others
Across the street from Dun Huang Plaza; Good sichuan place, good dumpling place, Sarah Restaurant good Shanghai style dish
Central China Restaurant 9390 Bellaire. Great Chinese breakfast

so many others on Bellaire

My fav Chinese restaurant is the one next to Wells Fargo bank just west of Corporate on Bellaire.
If you go late at night odds are you will find a couple spa ladies eating there. :}

Seedy... Seedy... Seedy. Mai's ceased to be good years before it burned to the ground. The new Mai's isn't even a shell or what it was.

I will agree with you on that DG but it's one of the best and only places in that area to get, Bun bo Hue especially late-night.
