Late night or 24 hour restaurants
Ok, something that annoys me about Houston compared to some other cities is how early everything closes. Often, I have late night plans so by the time Im headed home, my options seem to be limited to Jack in the Crack, Taco Bell, Denny's and other less than satisfying options.
So when starving at midnight, 1am, etc, where are some GOOD places to eat?
All I can think of are Mai's (may not have reopened yet) and Katz's. I don't really cook so my fridge at home is usually empty other than the box of baking soda and fuzzy cheese.
Thanks!

Hell, even some Taco Bells close around 1AM.
Good restaurants that stay open 24 hours?? Good luck in finding one.
Chacho's and House of Pies aren't really good places, but they sure can cure hunger pains.

Yes, it's a problem, esp. when you take a stripper out to dinner for 9 pm, and of course they don't turn up until 11:30, and there's nowhere open.
IHOP? But you may not see the stripper again, or else you won't be able to go to that IHOP ever again.
IHOP is sometimes the after hours haunt of strippers.

Great suggestions!
Chacho's and Ruchi's aren't too appealing to me. I don't trust the meat for some reason. They rank up there with taco bell. House of Pies is good (the pies) but the food and service... not so much. I feel like Im walking in a time machine when I go in there, in a bad way.
Mojojo, you are too kind Tan Tan on Westheimer is a good idea! I hadn't thought of that.
Brooke-- Hey Lady!! Thanks for all the info! Mila mentioned BBs before but Ive never been there. Will definitely try it!

I think Houston is pretty good for late night food compared to the majority of Texas. Try living anywhere about 30 mi. away where sidewalks are picked up at dusk
There are plenty of chains like Taco Cabana, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, What-a-burger, IHOP, Denny's, Waffle House, etc.
If hard pressed my only picks would be Taco Cabana or What-a-burger (if WaB served cold beer I imagine they'd achieve a new world order within a few days)
lots of good suggestions so far, here are some more..

yeah but only on saturday does it stay open past midnight. the other six days of the week you are out of luck
There are a few places that normally close before 10 that stay open later toward the weekend like Thur-Sat. (Brooke mentioned some in her post)

Hey Girl
Mila may know some places, she took me to a Cajun place that didn't close til 2am, the margaritas are great and so was the food.

Rezo,
Great list! Im so glad I asked. Im sure Houston is better than smaller towns, but for such a huge city, it really feels like a ghost town after midnight... especially during the week.
