As OP alluded to, this issue has been brought up before (not sure if on here, but many, many, many times on the "P") and there really isn't any "
BEST" way to do this.....Check that.....I guess the best way to handle screening is doing whatever works best for the provider and hobbyist.....The provider absolutely
HAS to screen clients using a method that
SHE feels comfortable enough with that will make her accept an appointment with a client.....OTOH, the client absolutely
HAS to decide what amount of his personal information he's willing to reveal to someone he doesn't know just to spend an hour with a provider and then risk having that come back to bite him in the ass at a later date.....As you can see, these interests of the provider and hobbyist can be, and often are, polar opposites of each other.....
There are many different alternatives from which one can choose when going through the screening process.....Register for one of these referral services (or most providers and hobbyists are on several of them), use provider referrals, or request (and provide) real world personal info.....Each one of these procedures has pros and cons, and there is no right or wrong choice for either of them.....Choose whatever method you're comfortable with using and then be damn determined to NOT deviate from it (but we always get in trouble when we say NEVER) and always be prepared to accept the consequences of your choice(s).....Pretty much all I can say about it.....
