REMEMBER THE LEFT'S MANTRA: WE NEED HEALTHCARE REFORM SO THE UNINSURED DON'T OVERWHELM THE ER
It was all baloney; Obamacare did nothing of the sort...the record new Medicaid patients signed up under Obamacare are inundating ERs..
It wasn't supposed to work this way, but since the Affordable Care Act took effect in January, Norton Hospital has seen its packed emergency room become even more crowded, with about 100 more patients a month.
That 12 percent spike in the number of patients — many of whom aren't actually facing true emergencies — is spurring the hospital to convert a waiting room into more exam rooms.
"We're seeing patients who probably should be seen at our (immediate-care centers)," said Lewis Perkins, the hospital's vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer. "And we're seeing this across the system."
That's just the opposite of what many people expected under Obamacare, particularly because one of the goals of health reform was to reduce pressure on emergency rooms by expanding Medicaid and giving poor people better access to primary care.
Instead, many hospitals in Kentucky and across the nation are seeing a surge of those newly insured Medicaid patients walking into emergency rooms.
Can you repeat...."the most incompetent, corrupt, imperial presidency in American history.
When has the American left every gotten anything right ????????

That 12 percent spike in the number of patients — many of whom aren't actually facing true emergencies Well before the ACA was in effect if you had say, strep throat, it could be very tough to get an appointment at short notice at your primary care physician. So you went to the emergency or minor emergency center. You got your shot and your scrip and you went home.— is spurring the hospital to convert a waiting room into more exam rooms. For 1 extra patient a shift

One extra patient every 8 hours.
With so many supposed big problems, you sure picked a non-problem.
And the article ignores the important issue.
How many of those people paid for their visit? Hospitals would rather get an extra patient every 8 hours when 10 more of the patients during that time paid.
Guess who pays for uninsured patients at the county ER?
We do.

You want to ignore/deny the hospital administrators that expressed alarm over the dramatic increased ER visits....go ahead.....be an idiot.
The administrators know what is going on. More people in the ER means higher costs for the hospitals and their taxpayers. It also means less resources allocated to those who need ER (and other) hospital services.

and who pays for these extra patients going to the ER... many of which I assume are newly minted Medicaid patients?.... oh yeah, the taxpayer..... and add to the fact, that since they have medicaid, they can schedule with a normal doctor, except for the fact, as usual, leeches on the system tend to not give a fuck if they cost other people money.....

Most of those new private health insurance policies are subsidized with taxpayer money too.
Around me the number of minor emergency centers is staggering. Literally 5 in a one mile stretch of highway. A doc told me it was to take up patient overflow from the local public hospital.
