Newbie Screening Question

Hi -

I'm new to Austin (but not the hobby) and had two general questions:

1 - What's the main difference between going with an agency vs independent provider? My main fear is that an agency could be involved in human trafficking...

2 - Are there any ways for a newbie to get screened/reviews without providing a real name? I understand the need for safety but would like to protect myself also. Maybe meeting at a hotel protects both parties?
