Smile Happy Juneteenth

The federal holiday commemorates the day when over a quarter of a million enslaved Black people learned of their freedom after Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger and roughly 2,000 Union troops arrived at Galveston Bay, Texas on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth is the first federal holiday established since Martin Luther King Jr.

Enjoy the federal holiday tomorrow

Thankfully Union troops under command of the President Abraham Lincoln made this happen. Thousands of black and white folks died . You enjoy that holiday.

Sure, I am all for adding on more holidays!! I don't believe in this 40-hour work week, who the F%%K created this 40-hour work week anyway? On the flip side of that, how can anyone living today (2022) try to claim revenge, hatred, etc for something that happened 200+ years ago that they never lived thru or experienced? Hmmm, should we all go hating Egyptians for enslaving Hebrews, or hate the same Union troops that slaughtered 1000's of native Americans to take their land away from them. It's all bullshit if you ask me! American history does not care about anyone's skin color, it's all about what the rich can pull out the ground! Same shit going on in the Ukraine right now. It's all about the wealth that's under the ground, not what's on top! This is why they do not care what they destroy above the ground, because the true wealth that these few rich Mthr Fkrs want is deep under the ground.

Unhappy Wow !

Ccccrider2015 and Cherokeechief,

I am surprised that mentioning the Juneteenth holiday, which according to the Congressional Research Service, “celebrates the end of slavery in the United States,” and is also known as Emancipation Day, can trigger such negative comments. I find that embarrassing. Is this really 2022 ?

Don’t be shocked. Clearly you’ve not looked in the political forum lately.

1blackman1,

You are absolutely right about the political forum. I rarely look since most opinions and comments there are garbage. It is mainly populated by members with an intelligence quotient at least one standard deviation below average it seems.
I recall you were one of the few that actually had something intelligent to contribute. But I also think you got pointed for being rational or even banned if I am not mistaken. I would likely get in trouble as well if I commented on that thread. So I just avoid even looking.

You cannot or don't want to see the real truth, because you still wear them subliminal blinders of the past. Do you really believe that raising one race up, and pinning other races down isn't racism? No one today in politics really cares about anything that happened in anyones past. Especially 200 years, 300 years, or even BC, they only care about wealth. I don't need some fake ass GOVERMENT telling me when I can have a holiday. You can go and celebrate what they command you to celebrate, and no im not a racist. I know that's your next brainwashed comment, lol.

Yeah it’s best not to. But now for me it’s like a car wreck. I know it’s garbage but I keep going in and collecting my points and likely my 3rd suspension.

What does celebrating the day when EVERYONE in the nation was actually free have to do with putting another race down? You say you’re not racist but your tone and obvious anger at the mere MENTION of Juneteenth ultimately betrays whats actually in your heart.

Lol, yeah you can twist your words around and try to say I am, but I m not. The indians were forced onto reservations around this time, did you count them in your everyones free? Chinese people where used as slave labor in mines, some were abandon in the holes they dug. They were not free! Blankets full of snail pox were given by the gov to some indians to kill them off. Yet you want to celebrate, then go ahead celebrate! Oh and just so you know, I am half choctaw indian. Also if anyone has a difference of opinion, great, that's why we live in America right? So you are free to say what you want, and i have that same freedom. I will never celebrate a 1 single race or peoples holiday, never! So go pop your fireworks

So you’re anti-Christmas, or do you mean 1 race only. Or are you ok with religious holidays even though they are specific to a religion? You definitely must be anti-thanksgiving since that a celebration of the Indians giving food to the pilgrims (supposedly).

No need to get all upset. Ending the civil war and the terrible events that led to it, like hundreds of years of generational slavery should be viewed as a positive rather than something that upsets you.

Hey, the civil war was not just about slavery, and I meant any single race holiday! I know you were trying to twist your words there with trickery. You are correct, I can care less about all holidays! I will tell people happy this, and merry that, but in all truths I can really care less. In all honesty, it is better for me to be hated for who I am then to be loved for who I am not. Oh I do like 1 holiday, but it's not recognized. March 14th!! Steak & a BJ day... I am really not upset, just want people to know the whole truth about those times, and not just a sliver!
