Why even bother with subsidized passenger train traffic? Buses and planes are cheaper. Rail makes sense only for heavy industrial traffic - ask Warren Buffet.

New York pretty much runs on the subway system. Take it out and the entire city will grind to a halt.
Same goes for almost all of our major urbanized areas.
There are safety measures that can eliminate this type of accident. It will be harder to implement with the cut in funding. However, WTF there were only eight people killed why worry.

It's hard for me to think of anything more contemptible than seeking to exploit a tragedy like this for political advantage even before the bodies are counted and recovered. Evidently Democrats lack a very basic human quality - the same quality undercunt likes to lecture everyone else in this forum about not having.
