EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas....
According to this article, Texas is on the verge of increasing the speed limit to 85 MPH in certain areas. This would make it highest speed limit in the nation! I'm even using larger font to celebrate our newest addition to our everything is bigger motif! As we know, there is an unspoken law that you can go speed limit + 10, so that makes it 95! LOL

Yeah... My first foray into this great state, more than a few years ago, I was pulled over for 3 over, removed from my 'stolen' car and cuffed face down in the scrub/sand/dirt that passes for an environment in west Texas. So, I am not a big believer in the 10 over rule.
After spending 10 minutes relaxing in the sun... oh, it was August about 2 in the afternoon. Me in my jeans and black tee shirt...
Conclusion:
No officer, that's not a BMW, its a Lexus... and no its not black its blue... and those are not Texas plates, they're Washington, I know the mountain on the plate makes most people think of Texas, but.... I'm sorry there is a stolen BMW with a similar plate number... can you let me up now please.
Her (and her training officer's) reply... drive safe and welcome to Texas.
Seriously.

Great now we'll have idiots doing 85+mph while texting or talking on their cell phones. Half of them don't use turn signals, maintain a safe following distance,or read signs,so this makes perfect sense. We'll all end up paying higher insurance rates. WTF!!!!!!!!

I was stopped two years ago on I10 near Ozona doing 85 in the 80. The officer gave me a warning and said they have near zero tolerance with the higher limits for speeders. YMMV

If you key all of the mics at the same time, you may be able to cook a turkey.

I have written my Congress Critter and asked him to rewrite the law to read "Shooter can go like hell but all others need to slow down."
Yep, that will work. It's the other idiots on the road that make it dangerous.
Crossing the border from Clovis four years ago at 3am I was stopped and ticketed by THP for 66 in a 65 zone. My speedometer doesn't read that closely. The ticket held up as I took it to court. Cost me a full day of vacation and $100 with court cost.
