Default HOW DO WE GET TO $5 GALLON GAS ?????

Obama's plan in the rearview mirror:

Running on Empty: New Chart Shows White House Plan for Higher Gas Prices & Fewer Jobs

Posted by Don Seymour on February 24, 2012 In yesterday’s speech defending his failed energy policies – under which gas prices have nearly doubled and are rising faster than ever – President Obama called for the kind of “all of the above” energy strategy long-championed by Republicans. But far from supporting “all of the above,” the Obama administration has spent more than three years blocking efforts to expand energy production and bring down gas prices, while pushing job-crushing tax hikes and taxpayer-backed loans to companies like Solyndra. Here’s a look:

The president even sought to pin the blame for rising prices elsewhere, citing instability in the Middle East as one example. But as this chart shows, the Obama administration simply hasn’t focused on reducing our dependence on foreign energy. In fact, energy production on federal lands has dropped by 11 percent.

While these represent only a fraction of the Obama administration’s efforts to stifle new energy production, here’s a look at some of the key data points from above:
  • MARCH 7, 2009ABC News says the White House is closely monitoring the expedited Solyndra loan project even as it was delaying new American energy production that would help make us less dependent on foreign energy. Gas is $1.94 a gallon.
  • JUNE 27, 2009 - President Obama urges the Senate to adopt House Democrats’ “cap and trade” national energy tax, the same one the president once admitted would cause electricity rates to “necessarily skyrocket.” Then-GOP Leader Boehner later said the bill “would raise electricity prices, increase gasoline prices, and ship American jobs to countries like China and India.” Gas is $2.50 a gallon.
  • MARCH 31, 2010 – Instead of opening new areas to energy exploration and development, President Obama blocks deep-ocean energy production on 60 percent of America’s Outer Continental Shelf. Gas is $2.80 a gallon.
  • DECEMBER 1, 2010 –The president re-imposes and expands the moratorium on offshore energy production. Gas is $2.86 a gallon.
  • JANUARY 2, 2011TIME reported that the Obama administration issued the first in a series of regulations on January 2 designed to unilaterally impose a national energy tax. Gas is $3.05 a gallon.
  • JUNE 21, 2011 - The White House opposes the House-passed Jobs & Energy Permitting Act that would unlock an estimated 27 billion barrels of oil and 132 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Gas is $3.65 a gallon.
  • NOVEMBER 8, 2011 – The Obama Administration releases a plan for a five-year moratorium on offshore energy production, placing “some of the most promising energy resources in the world off-limits,” according to the House Natural Resources Committee. Gas is $3.42 a gallon.
Republicans are working to address high prices and create new jobs by removing government barriers to energy production and stopping policies that drive up costs. You can “like” the American Energy Initiative on Facebook and learn more about the GOP Plan for America’s Job Creators at jobs.GOP.gov.

Default Whoever sent you that chart, delete their name from your e-mail list.

Anybody that believes that that chart has any relevance on our gas prices has no understanding of world commodities.

You may as well show a chart of a rooster crowing and the Sun coming up and make an argument that is why we have a Sunrise.

Here is the Obama quote from his CNBC interview with John Harwood:

" I think that I would have preferred a gradual adjustment. The fact that this is such a shock to American pocketbooks is not a good thing. But if we take some steps right now to help people make the adjustment, first of all by putting more money in their pockets, but also by encouraging the market to adapt to these new circumstances more rapidly, particularly U.S. automakers…"

WTF ?????????????

OBAMA IS OK WITH FUCKING OVER MIDDLE CLASS WITH HIGHER GAS PRICES.

[quote=Whirlaway;2224326]Here is the Obama quote from his CNBC interview with John Harwood:

"I would have preferred a gradual increase in prices. I don't mind the high price, John, Mr. Harwood. I don't mind the high price at all. I just think we got there a little bit too quickly. But it actually could help us move into this worthless green technology area, which is nothing more than a slush fund money laundering operation for m

Don't put the blame where it belongs, the usage in the USA is down,we have a surplus, and are exporting because of the high price.speculators have driven the price up,plus the increased usage in China and India.

God Damn, now you interpret for the President of the United States!

I never once saw where he said he didn't mind high prices. High gas prices could get him defeated but for some reason you can't seem to understand that.

What he said IMHO was that if prices were to go up, he prefered they go up slowly.

But there is nothing the President of the United States can do to lower gas prices at the pump.

If there was every President would do so. Wait, They could sell arms to Iran like Reagan did but that was before China and India started competeting for oil. No there really is nothing one can do short term.

The supreme stupidity of an Obamazombie.................to claim "nothing" is absolutely false.

I can give you three things he could do right now that would lower the pump price immediately !

But WTF is such an idiot he claims >>>>>>>>>>>>

With followers like WTF, no wonder Obama is such a failed president. Obama (and WTF) don't know squat about Presidential powers, leadership, and policy.

#1 - gas was $5 after the oil spill. So we've already been there. Is that Obama's fault?

#2 - It's not JUST Obama
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/business...-price-of-gas/

Oil "speculation" has a lot to do with it, you really can't ignore that.

A single event that leads up to $5 gas that comes back down...nope, not Obama's fault (btw, I don't think gas prices reached $5/gallon during or after the oil spill. Can you please provide a link or some support.)

But a prolonged policy that drives up prices is.

Oh he could drop the gasoline tax that Reagan raised. That is about it.

Anything else short term would be just a temp spike.

Do you understand why prices are going up? Demand and a weakened dollar.

If he really wanted to drive the price of a barrel of oil down, he would (along with congress) get busy solving our deficit. That would shore up the dollar ....might hurt exports but it would help with the price of oil.

But we have a problem with our current form of government...it does nothing until a crisis hits.

But you guys Obama told us all how to save energy... all we have to do is fill our tires and get regular tune ups. Geez don't yall listen to God when he talks. I mean seriously just pull into the gas station and fill your tires instead of your tank. Isn't Daddy obama just the BEST!!!

It's ok, just go back to sleep... there you go... zzzzzzzzzz

Here comes the hot poker....

the prez doesnt control gas prices ... supply and demand does. Elimanate China and half of Europe and our price at the pump would be $1.50. Speculation has a very big part in the equation. A seagull shits on an OPEC storage tank and gas prices jump 25 cents ... gas was over $5 in 08, several counties in Cali experienced that, Texas was close.
