Default Penguins

---
Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in
Antarctica - where do they go ?

Wonder no more ! ! !

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an
extremely ordered and complex life.

The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well
as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring
throughout its life.

If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family
and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their
vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird
to be rolled into and buried.

The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing:

"Freeze a jolly good fellow"

"Freeze a jolly good fellow."

"Then they kick him in the ice hole."

You really didn't believe that I know anything about penguins, did you ????

Yes, I also get similarly miffed at jokes which have cavemen mingling with dinosaurs.

Cheers,

bcg (it's a curse to know almost everything...)

surfing the web does not entitle you to knowing everything

It just proves you know how to push buttons

Actually, I've known that penguins and polar bears live on opposite ends of the planet since I was, oh, a first grader or so, and that was long before there was such a thing as the web. You may remember those olden times... when when had to look stuff up in those big, heavy things called "books", which were kept in a big building called "the library".

The links to Wikipedia were there only because, while I know almost everything, I don't expect you to necessarily take me at my word, since "almost" in this context means "occasionally I'm wrong", and I'm always happy to be corrected..

If you're ever unfortunate enough to meet me in person, you are more than welcome bring a test of general knowledge for me to take, just as long as that's off the clock. I'll be damned if I'm paying merely for the privilege of taking a test; I swore off that after I took my last standardized admissions test.

Cheers,

bcg
