Top IRS official will invoke 5th Amendment
Hmmm...wonder if there's any "there", here??
O'Blunder says "there's no 'there, there'", on the Benghazi issue. (Of course we know he's a fucking lying liar, but I digress.) I wonder if the same applies to the IRS issue. If so, why won't this bitch testify??

Top IRS official will invoke 5th Amendment
By Richard Simon and Joseph Tanfani
1:08 PM PDT, May 21, 2013
WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups.
Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd.
Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.
“She has not committed any crime or made any misrepresentation but under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course,” said a letter by Taylor to committee Chairman Darrell E. Issa, R-Calif. The letter, sent Monday, was obtained Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times.
Taylor, a criminal defense attorney from the Washington firm of Zuckerman Spaeder, said that the Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation, and that the House committee has asked Lerner to explain why she provided “false or misleading information” to the committee four times last year.
Since Lerner won’t answer questions, Taylor asked that she be excused from appearing, saying that would “have no purpose other than to embarrass or burden her.” There was no immediate word whether the committee will grant her request.
According to an inspector general’s report, Lerner found out in June 2011 that some staff in the nonprofits division in Cincinnati had used terms like “Tea Party” and “Patriots” to select some applications for additional screening of their political activities. She ordered changes.
But neither Lerner nor anyone else at the IRS told Congress, even after repeated queries from several committees, including House Oversight, about whether some groups had been singled out unfairly.

Well, she can do that. And the Speaker of the House of Representatives can throw her ass in the DC jail until such time as she decides to answer the questions.

The pussys on the Hill wont do anything. They will make speeches, throw barbs but bottom line is none of them have any balls.
The only way to fix all this is elect a new bunch every time, 30 minutes after they get to WASHINGTON they are on the tit.

Her attorney failed to get her excused from showing up; it will be good tv to watch her say:
"on the advice of my attorney I invoke my right to take the 5th".....
Hope the House asks her repeated questions; so she has to repeat, repeat, repeat..........
The Obama administration is as corrupt as the old school mobsters............

Like any good investigation you start at the bottom and work your way up to find the source.
What we are seeing is a symptom of a government gone bad or more so, out of control.
The IRS is the most powerful government organization that can destroy an individual or business in short order. No citizen of this nation, regardless opf political affiliation, should be forced to live under the fear of the IRS.
What these people have done is criminal and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent allowable by law AND should be done so by a special prosecutor and not the corrupt justice department.
Thje right to remain silent and not incriminate yourself is sacred to our Constitution and is the best thing for a person that is staring at the bus they will be thrown under. Start at the bottom with the worker bees that may not have the devotion req2quired to spend prison time for those that sent the orders down. Build the case and then it does not matter if they talk or not, they will want to make a deal if they are not the one on top.

Too early in the process to give her immunity............Investigat ors need to know exactly what she is hiding and who else this scandal extends to............more background work needs to be undertaken so they can get greater leverage.

Lerner taking the 5th is a major milestone in this scandal. It is a crack in the IRS damn.
It can now be assumed that criminal acts were committed by Obama administration employees.
Lerner is a partisan hack for the Democrats. Prior to heading up the IRS Special Unit (targeting American conservatives); she headed up a special unit within the Federal Elections Commission. She used that position to go after the christian right and other conservative groups....
A bigger question is how many of Lerner’s colleagues will follow her lead and decline to answer questions? Pleading the 5th tends to be contagious - especially when it comes to criminality.
But in the meantime, sit back and enjoy the proceeding.

Obama should fire her, if he is serious about cleaning up problems within the IRS; afterall, he "fired" the director who had NOTHING to do with this scandal !
The fact that he doesn't; well, it is easy to assume he can't because she can connect the WH to the scandal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
