Stood up.....well sort of

So I am a newbie and have not tried to set up a date with a provider. However since my family was out of town, thought I'd give it a shot. I PM'd a provider last night and agreed to meet after 4:30PM. After exchanging a few texts today, she realizes I don't have any references and passes on the meeting. Naturally, I am a little upset ,and this something that I haven't really done before. I guess what I'm wondering, are there any providers that don't require references? Any advice on how to approach this should I try again? Many thanks
