Hard Eight in Coppell...a lot closer to Dallas than Fortworth.

heh...

In all seriousness.

Have one of these fine gents drive you over to Fort Worth, or as NYr mentioned, Hard 8 in Coppell.

Fort Worth has some fine BBQ joints.

Coopers as previously mentioned is my favorite.

If you really want to stay in the Dallas area, Bone Daddy's is pretty damn good BBQ. You wouldn't be getting the best but it would be better than anything you can get in California.

Hard 8. Hands down. Their brisket is killer.

Mike Anderson's on Harry Hines in Dallas or Sonny Bryans on Inwood in Dallas.

There are several good BBQ stands in the Fort Worth area, little hole in the wall places. I think I remember the one in the old DQ in FW, trying to remember where it was at.

(Would it be wrong to admit I figured this was another BBFS thread, discussing Bare-Back-Queens?)

For something a bit different, try Tim Love's Woodshed Smokehouse. Unique and quite good.

There's a Rudy's in Denton, too. There are probably some more but I'm too lazy to do a search.

But, the FTW Holes-in-the-Walls give you more "ambiance." Since Dallas is only marginally a part of Texas, you would be better served looking west of Big D.

My Southern roots insist I suggest trying Red Hot and Blue (Memphis style) as well as good Texas Brisket. Totally different type of barbeque, both delicious.
