The first link is a true link that points to the entire, untruncated URL. The second one points to a URL which incorporates the "..." truncation that the site uses for URLs longer than a certain length, so of course that isn't a valid URL and the link would be dead (in my perspective, anyway). Usually this happens when one highlights a truncated link and then just clicks "copy" and pastes the copy of the truncated link into one's post.
Thanks for your reply though... it caused me to look closer. Of course, if I weren't posting exhausted after a long day of hard work I might have noticed that the first time... LOL
