Default Keep September 3rd open.

On September 3rd Sarah Palin will be in a small town outside Des Moines, IA. Though it is not known what she will speak of she has said that she will make a decision about running for president in August or September. People like Karl Rove think that Labor Day weekend will be the day that she announces. You could easily be in on history by being there.

I'm only moderately interested in Palin, but damn, I bet she gives one hell of a blowjob, just something about that mouth and her look.

What's going to be so historic about her announcing if she runs? She's not the first lady to be in the running for POTUS. There's no history to be had there. She won't win the GOP nom.

Michelle Bachmann is the better candidate and the favorite. She talks to the press and although she may give some crazy answers, she at least gives answers. Although her bodyguards have started to be a little handsy with them.

I am in no way supporting Bachmann.....just making that clear.

When I first started looking at this board about four months ago, I saw several people claiming that Obama was unbeatable. Things have changed haven't they. Let me remind you that Bill Clinton, in 1992, had not yet entered the primary race and still won. He got in against a president who couldn't be beat (George HW Bush with approval ratings of 88 %).
In 1976 when the name Jimmy Carter came up the standard response was "who is Jimmy Carter".
You may not like Sarah Palin but, unless you are totally rabid, that everyone does know Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin is not the first woman to run for presidential nomination. Susan B Anthony owns that but she didn't do so good. Shirley Chisholm didn't do much better. Patricia Schreoder dropped out and found comfort in the arms of her husband. Hillary came closer than Elizabeth Dole but was bushwacked by members of her own party who undermined efforts in order to put the worst president in our history in office. If Sarah Palin gets the nomination (I give her even odds) she WILL THE FIRST WOMAN CANDIDATE FOR THE PRESIDENCY. Sorry Elena but you are wrong. No woman has run for the office, some women have run for the opportunity to run for the office but lost. The point is that none of these people are running for president yet. They are running for the nomination.
Some people here like to talk about history and politics, here is an opportunity to be involved in both and it is only a short distance away. At the very least when the mainstream media writes their stories you will be able to say 'I was there and that is not what happened'.

With google at hand, there is no reason for anyone to just give us untrue information. If they are not completely mentally lazy they can google it and get the information they want to write about; that is if they don't use Wikipedia (a source of information that is far from reliable); but in this case, I checked and even Wikipedia had it right.

Sorry JD Barleycorn, in this case MsElena is correct: there have been women who have run for president - they just were not representing one of the major political parties; I would not count a serious run by Gracie Allen of The Surprise Party in 1940. Likewise a candidate from the Communist Party, Right to Life Party or the Looking Back Party would not be considered to be a serious candidate.

But then, I don't believe that MsElena bothered to look any of this up. All of the female candidates that have, so far, run for president; can not be considered to be serious or even entertaining. Like a sad clown at the circus, they can briefly get our attention as we divert our thoughts from the relevant things in our communities and personal lives.

Many serious minded women have been nominated for the office of president, such as Elizabeth Dole who has give some great speeches and can be viewed as a leader in her own right. No one would consider that she was a success because of Bob Dole. She has earned that distinction herself.

There will come a time, when we have a woman who acts like a leader, and not just a woman. A woman will soon gain the nomination of one of the major political parties. I do not believe that either Hillary Clinton or Sara Palin will be accepted as candidate by their respective parties.

Are you freakin serious, its not history making because Backman is already running, his point is it will be history making because she will be nominated and will win, of course this is just mindless wishing.

As for Obama being beaten by anyone the GOP has running right now, not going to happen especially not Palin. Palin winning the election does not even rate a comment.

JR whats your problem with Elena, dude let it go because your constant attacks makes you look like a jilted lover or customer, not a good look.

There have been a multitude of parties in the history of the US but I was, of course, referring to the main parties; Democrat, GOP, Whig, Federalists, Dixiecrats, Socialists, Bull Moose, and the Grange. Each of these parties have ran presidential candidates, or have been awarded electoral votes, recieved more than 5% of the popular vote, or have representatives in the Senate or House. So I stand by what I wrote and I didn't have to look up a damn thing. These are things that people should know already about their country.

If the economy improves then it will be a tough fight to get our Muslim president out of office, if it doesn't, a woman still won't be able to do it.

We have had an idiot in the White House. His name is Jimmy Carter and now we have a corrupt union thug/community organizer. This isn't about what's his name this is about September 3rd.

Lest we forget that Sarah Palin has a degree in broadcasting or the equivalent of those pesky reporters that are attacking her.
I also like Herman Cain but J. Garofalo thinks he is not smart enough to run so he is being put up to it by someone. Now who is being the racist since Mr. Cain has a degree in Mathematics and another degree in Physics. Before he saved Godfather's Pizza Cain worked on fire control systems for the navy as a civilian. Ms. Garofalo thinks he is too dumb! So let's hear some insults thrown against Herman Cain and show us your true colors.

Without question, some of the biggest idiots I know, have Masters or Phds. So merely because someone has
a higher level of education, does not impress me. Intelligence is not something you learn in college.
College is all about enchancing your level of intelligence...if you start out with very little to begin
with, all you become is a highly educated idiot...big difference than being someone who is consider an
intelligent person.

Secondly, I do not feel someone who is a highly succesful business person, always translates into a solid political
candidate. Solely the traits to be highly success in the business world, do not always translate into the
type of person I would want to see in the political world. Can it be a plus, sure. But many highly
successful business people are totally clueless outside their area of speciality. And have no real feel
for what the average American life is like. Plus, let's face it, politics is also about diplomacy...many
successful business people are all about...my way or the highway (that's part of what makes them thrive)

Am I disappointed in some of the things our current Pres has/has not done...YES!
Is he better than that clown that was in the White House b4 him....HELL YES!~!!

Also my disappointment covers our bandage-cure Congress...and that includes both parties.

But I will repeat, please GOP, pick Palin as your presidental candidate. And then I will agree, Sept 3rd is the
beginning of something special

Agree on all your points. I assumed that you knew all of that. I was just being polite by saying MsElena was also correct when she hijacked your thread.

JD Barleycorn, I really enjoy your comments.

Does anyone really think that Palin is a serious candidate for the nomination? If not, what is she doing?

Think about how the GOP is split, and how she can bring a group of voters into the party machine. That conservative block of voters, can be used to further her political career without any thought of a nomination for president. Most voters do not agree with the extreme political left, or the extreme political right. However, both extremes have voters that must be caressed and enticed to remain active in the party, either Republican or Democrat.

In Palin's case, she is capable of gathering a great number of party workers (and contributions) for an effective GOP attack on Obama. The ability of the ultraconservative to mobilize, regroup and wake for a cause should not be underestimated. It matters not whether one agrees with them.

Will she seem to be running? Yes. What is she really doing? I think she is being used by the GOP to assemble, motivate, and organize the political troops.

The far right does not, by itself, dominate the GOP; but the party needs to maintain their loyalty. It can not afford to loose the support of that significant block of voters in every state. In the end and if she plays her cards right, Palin will throw her support to someone representing the central core of the party. In return, she will have a secure GOP future. If she fails to bring the conservative group of voters into the main organization to help rejuvenate the party for the coming election, her future is limited.

As in all things, think beyond what we want for ourselves so that we may evaluate what is really happening.
