Default What is in a name?

What is in a name? There was a thread http://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?...ighlight=names a while back asking the guys how we came up with our monikers. But what about the ladies?

Sheakespeare had a lot to say about it in Romeo & Juliet such as

"O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet."

or

"What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;"

and my personal favorite

"Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man."

That Shakespeare sure can be saucy!! So I got to thinking; How did the fine ladies of ECCIE choose their Nome de Guerre? Without revealing too much real life info (i.e., it is my mom's last name combined with my current address & last four of my social) anyone care to share how you decided on your interwebnet persona?

As I looked over the DFW Showcases there seemed to be some themes that emerged (all in good fun ladies, no offense meant):

The "I want to be at the top of the Yellow Pages listing, as in AAAAAA Able And Amazing Bail Bonds Co."

Why do I have the feeling a similar list regarding the men's handles is being crafted at this very moment?

I chose "Sasha" because it was rare at the time. Not too many providers were using it. As for the "FOXX"...
Cum on now baby, cant you see that I'm as foxy as Cleopatra.

Mine was a reject from Knots Landing, LOL...

I have actually googled "Nicole Preston" and there are many "real" ones out there...

Originally, I was going to be "Nicole Roberts", but the Domain name ( had a website at the time) was already taken. I lived on Preston, so I went with that. Best decision I ever made, sad but true.

I was given the name Dharma. My friends thought I was a hippie lovin', tree huggin', dirt worshiper and they thought it was appropriate. In truth, I'm a Buddhist and have never technically worshiped dirt. It suits me though. It means "the way". Not the way according to what anyone else thinks or any dogma. It's according to what I think. And I think I'm doing just fine.

My pseudonym "Laney" is a nickname of my middle name & "Von" is the German in my blood...

Plus it rolls off the tongue, like I do.... Lol

"Lana" was the name I had chosen for my first born if he had been a girl! "Warren" was a family name many generations ago!

M A X

Easy to remember and mostly known as a man's name. If it ever came up, it could also be explained easier as a gent's name. So, I guess you could say I was thinking of the gents when I chose it.

Oh and darn...I didn't make the list (s) :-(

thx for compiling the lists.

so, guys, which list(s) have you visited more?
out of the 76 on the lists, i've visited nine.

3 of my favs are in the Cute animals subset.

2 in each of Alliteration Station and Rejected names from Falcon Crest; none of them are my favs.

1 in each of Seasonal, calender, or meterological phenomena and The "location or direction specific" food group; none of them are my favs.
