I use avast! and Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. Both are very good and very free.

Malwarebyte's Site

avast! download

Do not hesitate to PM me if you need further assistance.

Thumbs up

Makenzee I can't disagree with Moka's selection as they are good but below are the ones I suggest.

1. NOD32 found here: http://www.eset.com/
2. Kaspersky found here: http://www.kaspersky.com/

I would definitely stay away from either Norton and McAfee as both of those products have a very low detection rate and are pigs on memory

wel well. even here we can not avout computer forum flamewar subjects.
I have good experience with Kaspersky.

An independent research site regarding Antimalware software can be found here: http://www.anti-malware-test.com/

regarding norton: for a long time symantec's products were consistently rate mediocre pr worse. slow performance was an issue for a long time.
The manner in which the software installs made it difficult to remove the package. that led to norton receiving the nickname 'yellow pest'.
However, the newest version really is a big improvement both regarding performance, protection and proper installation.

I agree. But if you have to stay w/ a PC, get AVG. It's free, and rated highly.

Yes, uninstall the Norton program before you install the new program you have chosen.

Internet Security usually refers to a group of programs and the anti-virus is just one of them. The others would include a firewall, something for spyware, etc.

Have used most of the above and avast seems to work best and use less memory!

Good luck getting rid of Norton. I really hope they've cleaned up their act. If you want to pay however, it's really good. I've never know anyone to have a problem, even folks with teenagers.
The last few systems I've cleaned up, I had good luck with Avast unless they were too chewed up. A tech buddy of mine likes Kaspersky. I just ran Trend's House call and I haven't ran anything against it to see how it stood up. It should be a good test as I've been to a few 'questionable' sites lately.
The last time I ran AVG I really liked it. It was pretty quiet running in the background. I liked it's utilities and loved it's firewall. But it's hard to argue with St. Chris's advise.
