That's our future, if Obama has his way. You think the IRS will be more compassionate than the Brits? (Yes, the IRS will be administering Obamacare.)

Yeah, this is the very same British NHS that was praised to high Heaven by Donald Berwick. Remember him? The guy Obamao chose (and recess-appointed) to be the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services? The same Donald Berwick that said Britain "chose well" in designing a NHS that (among other things) rations care and redistributes wealth in the process.

MORON ALERT!
Why, then, do Brits live longer (13th) than Americans (38th)? LMAO!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expe ctancy
It couldn't possibly be partially because of the preventative health care available to the British, could it?
Wow! It is the same with Cubans, Canadians and Swedes and 37 other countries!!!!!
I could go on by naming them but you Fox "News" and Fairy Tale devotees love being misinformed and love, even more, spreading that information. You don't even realize how far down we are on the health and longevity list and that we are the only MAJOR country that does NOT provide health care for its citizens!
You have no clue that US insurers are RATIONING care and ratcheting that ever-shrinking access to affordable care to more exclusively expensive levels every day. It is called rationing by prices and they also use raioning by "coverage reduction". So the Affordable Health Care Act" you loathe is actually helping stop further coverage reduction and price hikes that the Teapublican fools here can't even see were MORE UNSUSTAINABLE than "Obamacare".
If you think the AHCA is bad, you would have CHOKED on the premiums private insurance would have charged in five years. You would have had to have a job paying $250K per year and even the "Cadillac Plan" would NOT have protected you from possible bankruptcy if you were unlucky enough to have a catastrophic accident or illness.
The LEADING cause (60%) of bankruptcy in the U.S. is MEDICAL DEBT and over 70% of those have health insurance!!!!!You won't find that in Great Britain!
From an article and a well-researched CNN survey:
Medical bills prompt more than 60 percent of U.S. bankruptcies
HEALTH INSURANCE
June 05, 2009|By Theresa Tamkins
This year, an estimated 1.5 million Americans will declare bankruptcy. Many people may chalk up that misfortune to overspending or a lavish lifestyle, but a new study suggests that more than 60 percent of people who go bankrupt are actually capsized by medical bills.
Bankruptcies due to medical bills increased by nearly 50 percent in a six-year period, from 46 percent in 2001 to 62 percent in 2007, and most of those who filed for bankruptcy were middle-class, well-educated homeowners, according to a report that will be published in the August issue of The American Journal of Medicine.
"Unless you're a Warren Buffett or Bill Gates, you're one illness away from financial ruin in this country," says lead author Steffie Woolhandler, M.D., of the Harvard Medical School, in Cambridge, Mass. "If an illness is long enough and expensive enough, private insurance offers very little protection against medical bankruptcy, and that's the major finding in our study."
Woolhandler and her colleagues surveyed a random sample of 2,314 people who filed for bankruptcy in early 2007, looked at their court records, and then interviewed more than 1,000 of them.
They concluded that 62.1 percent of the bankruptcies were medically related because the individuals either had more than $5,000 (or 10 percent of their pretax income) in medical bills, mortgaged their home to pay for medical bills, or lost significant income due to an illness. On average, medically bankrupt families had $17,943 in out-of-pocket expenses, including $26,971 for those who lacked insurance and $17,749 who had insurance at some point.
Overall, three-quarters of the people with a medically-related bankruptcy had health insurance, they say.
"That was actually the predominant problem in patients in our study -- 78 percent of them had health insurance, but many of them were bankrupted anyway because there were gaps in their coverage like co-payments and deductibles and uncovered services," says Woolhandler. "Other people had private insurance but got so sick that they lost their job and lost their insurance."
Uncaring, insensitive, stupid, narcissistic, conceited, selfish and overly STUPID Teapublican IDIOTS love casting aspersions on those who weren't lucky enough to avoid major, income-stealing illnesses, accidents, or birth defects.
May Karma one day show them their own selfish arrogance in a special and personal way!!!
The only reason we don't have the even better alternative of a single-payer health care system is because of the Teapublican legislators who fought so hard to keep illness profitable for Big Insurance!!!!
These Teapublican Sheeple are so stupid they continue to vote FOR the very things that are against their best interests!!!!
Thanks, President Obama, for standing up and doing the RIGHT thing while the intellectually-inferior and religiously-inflexible right is being dragged, kicking and screaming, toward a better life!
Under your leadership we are slowly making headway against unregulated vultures who prey on the health and welfare of our citizenry.
Even though a cooperative Congress could help you, at least you are attempting to guard against the big money onslaught of those who would skirt regulations and use the so-called "free market" to make money and in so doing, harm us both our physically and financially.
We thank you, also for being vigilant while those same crooks are able to use campaign donor loopholes, tax loopholes, PACS and Citizens United to buy lobbyists, legislators and regulators in order to lie to those they are controlling. By doing that, they hope to entrench themselves as the unchallenged rulers of our freedoms and even our health!!!!
We thank you, Mr. President, for fighting those attempts to destroy the really important qualities this great country has embodied for centuries.

My goodness, Little Stevie, I thought WTF was good at ignoring the subject of a thread. But you get a gold star for this non-responsive post!!
I'll save you the trouble. The link in the original post was to a newspaper article in which a UK physician is claiming that about 130,000 elderly in England are euthanized each year, because it's too much trouble to care for them or they simply need to free up the hospital beds.
Statistics about longevity are meaningless in the face of such horror. If you want to debate longevity, don't hijack this thread to do it in. Why don't you respond to the statistic - 130,000 elderly euthanized in the British NHS.
My contribution to this thread was to point out that Obamao's Medicare/Medicaid guy (recently departed because his recess appointment was up) was all in favor of a British-style National Health System here. The fact that this very British NHS could be responsible for the murder of 130,000 elderly citizens per year should give every Obama/ObamaCare supporter the shits.

Sounds like a death panel. This is exactly where the socialists will take us if we don't get rid of Obamacare.

You nitpicking moron!
The response was EXACTLY on point because the article was not only speculation, but also another simple-minded attempt by the Teapublican "lazies" on this board to use an unsubstantiated scare tactic to try to recruit doubters about about our own national health care program!
The post by the guy who can't even spell "lying" or "lyin" in his own username said as much by titling it "It works soooo well in Britain" - clearly trying to draw a parallel to hundreds of politicians who joined with Caribou Barbie's in mentioning the nonexistent "Death Panels".
I will give you this - it DOES work on dumb asses but they are the racist idiots who are going to vote against Obama anyway.
Call me when you have proof of 130,000 Euthanasia deaths in Britain. In fact, you can call me when you have proof of 130.

Stevie, please see my other thread. Obamacare will not be free, nor will it improve access. And what criteria would you use to deny an elderly person health care?

No, I'd go by party affiliation. I think that's fair. Mellon preference would be my backup question. Also, I've never much cared for redheads.

Now there's an antithetical statement if there ever was one!
The fact is, only racist idiots like Little Blind Boy are going to vote FOR Odumbo in November.

Oh, look! Even while I was typing my reply, another stupid "sky-is-falling" Teapublican mentions the "end of life counseling" done for the entire Bush administration and even before and STUPIDLY calls that counseling "Death Panels" and warns us about them!
LMFAO! I don't know whether it is stupidity or that they really know better and are just calling it what the Teapublican P.R. people invented knowing it would scare people.
Once fucking more - "End of Life" counseling is merely sitting down with people and their families to discuss how they want to approach terminal illness. It consists of discussing (among many other things) whether someone wants to die after being kept alive by a machine for months or to use Hospice Services.
EVERYONE who can and the families of those who are too far gone to think should have the option of being able to die in their own home without using extraordinary life-prolonging medical care or to hold on and fight to the last possible minute existing on mega-doses of brain-numbing pain medication. Besides that one decision, there are any number of other decisions we ALL want to control when and if we are ever in that situation.
Joe Blowjob, you are an asswipe for attempting to muddy the waters with these tired, old, over-used, P.R-invented and false Teapublican alarmist scare tactics!
You are either so dumb you believe in the concept of forced euthanasia or you are deliberately misleading people for political purposes.
I pity you if it is the former and I say "how totally dishonest" if it is the latter!

I have only partial agreement with that (you missed way too many points). What YOU fail to realize is that the alternatives are unsustainable AND cost MORE. I really prefer a single-payer system that removes the profit motive from withholding either coverage or care using an economic model based on "for profit" health care.
