sugardaddy/sugarbaby relationships....
This is some what of a continuance to a previous thread...
I was watching a tv program the other day that suggested sugardaddy/sugarbaby arrangements are legal here in the USA. Which had me confused as to how that sort of exchange is legal and not considered prostitution.
I did a search online and found this....
http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2011/08/02/...sugar-daddies/
I think I was watching EXTRA but haven't found anything on their site relating back to the segment I'm looking for.
What are your thoughts/views on this subject???

I can't imagine that it would be legal anywhere outside of the very few licensed areas in Nevada.
As Jackie pointed out in the other thread where you brought this up, it's like unlicensed gambling in that ANY type of chance of winning something through "consideration" (paying money) is illegal.
Okay, now you might get some comments from those who believe things like income taxes are illegal or not in the constitution. And thus Sugar Daddy/Baby arrangements are legal. Please, that is just stupid foolishness and let's not turn this into a political flame up.
I suppose the problem with proving anything illegal in this type of arrangement would be if something like tuition or books or even rent are paid for on a certain day or time and then at some point later the two would get together for sex. How could a prosecutor say the two separate acts are related? Would they spend resources trying to prove such a thing?

Reading the story, that is basically what they were saying. Plus, what if the girl cleans the house, cooks some meals etc. The more the gal does, the harder it would be to prove the money was in exchange for a sex act.

I think these arrangements are fine. I'm not naive to the reality of it, but it does allow for the 'couple' to have more of a relationship than the normal hobby encounter. I've always enjoyed the familiarity of knowing someone beforehand, perhaps this just accentuates the experience by making it more 'real'.

I must have missed the previous thread and maybe this question was answered. But do you think a lady can be a provider and a sugar baby at the same time? Obviously it depends on the the arrangement with the sugar daddy, but assume he only wants to see her once a week, maybe some overnights and travel. Since he would have priority (I would assume), will that significantly hurt her provider business if she has to cancel on regulars or new clients when the SD calls? Or does that happen so infrequently that it's not an issue?
And do you tell the SD that you're also a provider? What if he sees your ads or showcase and finds out, do most not care?
I assume most of the SD/SB arrangments are pretty short term, probably 1 month to a year of you're lucky. Is it worth risking your provider business and clients for a SD relationship? I realize it's like hitting the lottery to land some guy that will pay you $1-5K/mth, but is it worth it to possibly lose regular guys you've seen for a long period of time?
Can someone give me a link to the previous discussion on this subject? Thanks

Say Lakecat,
I think Kendra mentioned something the time for sweeps thread in one message.
She has a link to the story she saw about it in the WSJ that you can read to start this thread.

Lakecat,
Traditional SD/SB relationships wouldn't withstand the female being an active provider / Escort, IMHO. I've been offered up to 10k a month for an exclusive arrangement and although at 10k we begin to get closer to where I might consider taking the money, the whole "exclusive" thing bothers me . . . I'm very independent and if I wanted an exclusive arrangement I'd remarry and leave the endeavor.
There are some ladies that drop off the radar from time to time and give it a whirl. They always return.

That's kind of what I've noticed Jackie, some providers will find a SD and drop off the radar, only to return. I have to think that in their absence they will have lost a number of regular clients and it may be hard to get them back to where they were before.
It can be a vicious cycle, the economy is bad so they jump at the SB offer. Turns out to not be exactly what was discussed. The SD's financial position changes, he finds a new SB or whatever and now she's back to her business. But with the economy being down, it's not so easy to get the phone to blow up again. You seem to have thought it through and figured out that long term your business is a more steady stream of income, but I suspect most girls haven't really considered all of the consequences. Like I said before, I imagine they feel like they won the lottery when a SD offers them $2-3k/mth to see them once a week only to find out it's mostly BS.
I find this to be a very interesting topic. It's a game I've chosen to not play the game because in many (most?) cases both sides are trying to work the other, they tend to be short term and too many emotions come into play with the lines being blurred. In an ideal world it can be fantastic, but I've decided it's best to stick with established, reliable providers like Jackie.

I think you are right Lakecat, the emotional attachment, non-attachment is the big issue. It is hard for two people in a normal dating relationship to agree, let a lone a provider client relationship, or sugar baby/sugar daddy relationship.
