BP closing adult section??
This is a rumor that seems to be popping up. There a bunch of stuff on google but it seems a bit dated.

I haven't seen anything recently, the most recent news on it was from Sept of 2010.
I highly doubt it'll close the adult area. BP is owned by Village Voice which is owned by New Times Media. BP brings in over 10 million a year just from the adult section alone. That's way more than what Craigslist ever dreamed about making.
BP has made changes over the last year so that they don't have to fight it in court. Plus, BP has more money backing them so if it was to end up in court, they would be able to handle themselves better than Craigslist. Craigslist was a moneymaker for the owners, but not even close to BP because most of CL's stuff is free posting.

If BP does go away, where would a person go to find a good quaility and updated adult section for OMAHA? NNL, SipSap and Big Doggie are boring and never get updated. Maybe ECCIE would expand to fill the void because there is such a huge demand.

New sites pop up almost daily, none seem to get anywhere near the same traction as Backpage has in the marketplace, although several have become very busy regional ad boards. After all, even 1% of the estimated 65-100 million dollars in online ad revenue (US alone) for erotic (escort) services (2011, projected) is a decent chuck of change . . . There are several just released ad sites and a few soon to be released that I feel will give BP a run for their money . . . someone will always build a better mousetrap . . . just a matter of time.
As for the OP, BP isn't going anywhere anytime soon . . .
Kisses,
- Jackie

I don't really see BP going anywhere. They make millions just off provider ads. In some cities its really expensive to post. I just do not see BP deleting their adult section.

Just an FYI - apparently there may be some teeth to the rumor that in specific markets (to comply with statute) BP MAY be considering pulling certain sections . . . of course, they aren't reporting specifics on where across the country they may be looking at taking this action, but several ladies that travel and place ads across the nation simultaneously in advance of their arrival in a particular market have reported being unable to place new feature ads in some areas in which the ad would have a duration (renewal option) greater than one week (in some areas the option does not exist to initiate a new feature ad at all - and there are only a limited handful of feature ads running in the specific section in question presently). This type of posting limitation has preceded other shut-downs with similar listing services in the past. Right now this seems isolated to certain mid-Atlantic states, and even specific localities. It could be a glitch, of course, but who knows?
Kisses,
- Jackie

I often have thought it would only take some crusading prosecutor, federal, state or local, to make it cause and then it will happen. We are, after all, coming upon an election season. Make your plans now.
