You should be fine girl. We used to hurricanes around here! Just continue watching the weather channel. Stay inside if possible away from windows. Feel free to pm me for more info. Enjoy your stay!

Lol.. not really funny, but to us native New Orleans people, we always prepare for stuff. Even a slight thunder storm.. be safe..

Good luck with that. There are no basements in Louisiana. You might find a few here and there, but they're hard to come by. If and when a tornado hits they're small and around here it's usually in a trailer park or other open areas, not anywhere near big buildings and neighborhoods. Possible, yes. Likely, no. This isn't Kansas, Toto.

IF you find one - don't get in it. It will fill w/ water quick.

We don't even buy our dead below ground in many places around here, let alone a basement....

We don't have basements but here it's best to go into a bathroom if it is in the center of the house without windows. Otherwise a internal hallway is safer than any rooms with windows. There is rarely a tornado that levels the places like in the Midwest, but it can happen. Around here it usually just rips a roof or wall off so inside a small room is safer as there is more structure around a smaller room like a hall or bathroom.
A bathtub is also a good place again there is usually lots of structure around a tub.
Be safe!
