Default Hotels blocking adult internet sites

I travel quite a bit and have never had a motel/hotel have a block on adult sites when I use their network in my room. Tonight I am staying in a new hotel that is using "vation networksinc." as thier ISP. If I try to go to sites like P411 I get a message stating that the site is an identified adult site and is blocked.

Are the rest of you starting to run into this when you travel? It is really cramping my provider search while I am in this area.

I hope more places don't go to this type of format.

I wish I knew how to tell if the hotel/motel some type of blocking in place before I get the room.

I would appreciate insights from others that travel and hobby (providers and guys too)

Yep they have been doing it more and more. Especially in more known for having providers. The company I work for has been doing it for a while now. They even got the adult section on cl blocked... but they didn't do the bp section yet...thank god... cause I spend 70 % percent of my workday window shopping for providers to try

Travel once a month or so and haven't run into this yet... never really thought of it before now.

That sucks brotha! I travel around 40 weeks a year and have not run into this issue yet, although I have heard from other traveling buddies that they have run into this.

The only variance I have found is that I stay at Marriott and Hilton properties and those who have reported the issue are staying at Best Western or Motel 6 type establishments and perhaps they don't care to cater to the adult male business traveler as much as they do vacationing families.

I would email the General Manager of the hotel that censorship of this type is unacceptable and to let me know when they have changed this policy before I, or any of my colleagues, stay there again. Just my .02.

This is why I travel with my Sprint PCS card. Plug it in anywhere and don't have to leave footprints on hotel network.

Get an iPhone or other phone with enhanced web capability. Then no more worries about blocked sites.

Yeah, many phones can be tethered to the laptops and your cell phone's ISP would be the one used for the connection, not the hotel's connection. A lot of those hotels charge $10 a day anyway for wifi, which is ridiculous, IMO.

I used to have a Motorola cell that you could plug in USB to share the network connection. I have an iPhone now which can only teether if you jailbreak it, AT&T blocks the teether feature in most of their phones. I saw a Verizon ad the other day for a phone that creates a wifi hotspot to connect your pc to. Best thing to do is to ask the rep at your cell provider which phones allow teethering. AT&T blocks it on almost all their phones so they can push their data card as well.

yes that sucks--Ambas*der hotel in Nola is that way{makes it so hard to change hotels after you have checked in}
I think hotels should inform you on their websites{as a disclaimer type deal}

I travel frequently and I have never run into that myself, but if so that hotel would be on my no stay list.

That wouldn't work for blocked sites since you would still be using the hotels wifi.
