The future of the hobby

There have been many discussions in public and private about the changing landscape of the hobby. Once limited to specific publications and areas of town, we now have the immediacy and vast expansion of the internet. I enjoy reading about the history and present state of this industry but there is not much out there about where the hobby is going?

How do you see the hobby changing in the future with the globally and instantly connected hobby world we live in today? Like how google can locate you almost anywhere if you have gmail and haven't opted out of their Location service. It's pretty crazy. Similar in a few ways to George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four or that Tom Cruise movie I can't remember the name of at the moment.

The internet has made for a safer, more informed community but it also creates a vulnerability that wasn't there before. In a big picture sense, considering the evolution of the hobby, what do you see happening as the technology keeps advancing?

Do you think we will be subject to constant public monitoring at some point in the future or will there be a shift toward the importance of privacy?

Will more public awareness and discussion cause the hobby be driven further underground or will it become more accepted such as was the case for recreational use of m***jauna?

As it's considered the "world's oldest profession", you can bet that nobody expects it to ever go away. It's funny that you mentioned the recent acceptance of other heretofore illegal recreational activities; that was the first thing that came to mind when I read the title of this thread. I think the level of technology we enjoy, the internet and instant global communication is allowing us to finally make rational decisions about what is and is not widely, socially acceptable. As with the 420 issue allowing the war on drugs to ultimately focus on truly damaging substances, hopefully, that rationale will translate to society realizing that human trafficking and child abuse are the comparable priorities, not consensual sexual activities between adults.

If someone told me 10 years ago that m***jauna would be legal for recreational use in the near future I would have never believed it. lol

A lot can change quickly with the right set of circumstances.

Strangely enough, in countries where prostitution is legal, the human trafficking numbers are much higher. Some would say its because the country is a haven for it, while others would argue that it is just being recorded more accurately bc of open regulation.

I wish there was more open discussion about the rights and wrongs of this industry rather than saying it is "all bad" bc it is illegal. There are certainly varying degrees of sexual morality. The guidelines on this site against posting certain images reflect that. Hell, it used to be against the law in many states (still is in some) to fornicate in any other position except MISH. Hahaha!!

I think, as morality laws fall out of fashion, common sense will kick in. Drugs, sexual laws and gambling have to be the first, most obvious "sins" to be legalized. The argument against the hobby will be human trafficking, but if common sense makes it legal, my hope is that common sense will dictate that one does not cause the other necessarily, any more than bad meth is why pot should be illegal.

So I do imagine a day when the hobby is legal, safe, and even considered therapeutic. Personally I can't wait to get a stess prescription from a doctor!

Yes and no. If it becomes legalized and standardized, you wonder if it'll be like the places in Europe. Yes, it's legal, accessible and the quantity of providers is mind boggling- but there is something detached and mechanical about the experience.

Ya even if it is legalized someday there will still be things about it that are illegal. Just like the case of m***juana. They didn't legalize all illicit drugs everywhere, just one previously illicit drug in a few states.

Big government can screw up just about anything though, no argument there.

Interesting and provocative questions and comments. My thoughts:the hobby wiil grow. Why? As That Hot Nurse observed, the internet has done two things1) women who I would never dream of being with are within reach(sort of likë the idea of buying affordable for your home) and (2) more choices mean lower prices. I am a liberal but I
understand and appreciate capitalism. One final point: I have been in the hobby before it was called the hobby. Know how I found a provider back in 1981? The hit and miss of the Yellow page ads: hoping to meet someone I liked and then ask if we could have a one on one w/o the service or to go to a massage parllor and do the same. One final thought:this is a profession just like being a CPA or a doctor or a lawyer. The word professional comes from Roman tiimes when a physican or an advocate would go to the town square and "professus" to the assembled people that their needs camme ahead of his needs. From professus to professional. As long as we keep this in mind, and show mutual respect(which is the basis for any professional relationship), then the hobby will thrive.

I posted in the sandbox about a pilot program in Compton where police planes are record six hour blocks for 25 square miles. It can track pedestrians and vehicles. When combined with traffic cameras the police can track the coming and going of every citizen. Big brother is here.

I believe that we will see the legalization of the hobby in our lifetime. I think it will snowball something like the marajuana trend that we're seeing now.

States are looking for revenue and I think that social media has galvanized the movement FOR liberty and AGAINST the unmerited rule of the moral elitist and (so called) Jesus freaks.

STR, love your posts and respect the hell out of you. But being legal will not happen. Why? Sex is differnet than dope. People can go ok with dope but nbit with sex, Why? Dope is always about somone else(as in "I do not do dope but other people do".) But sex is not like that. All people do it.

Conventional marital relationships are falling out of favor. At the same time, sugar daddy/ sugar baby relationships are spreading like wildfire. I've actively pursued SD/SB relationships the last couple of years and I frequently hear young ladies talking about how they desire this type of NSA relationship and don't see themselves ever getting married. Who can blame them when 50% of marriages end in divorce, and 75% of second marriages end in divorce? Marriage as an institution is a dinosaur. I think the world of escorting is going to morph more into a SD/SB style of relationship- sex is involved and so is an exchange of money but the reason the money is being exchanged is very ambiguous. Really escorting is already moving that direction, when was the last time anyone placed money directly into an escort's hand or negotiated specific sex acts?
