Otc job fair this year

For me, "The Old Days" at the OTC were OLD. Last time I went was 1979. The stadium wasn't
even thought of yet and the Astro Dome was in it's prime as The Eighth Wonde of the World.

Inside the Dome and Astro Hall, exhibitors filled the space with every kind of hardware and service. One booth offered shoe shines by the Houston Oiler Cheerleaders. You got a shoe shine and watched them shake their boobs as they poped the rag. Many remember the shoe shine but no-one can ever recall what company sponsored the booth!


Outside, the paking aea was filled with huge equipment and drilling rigs. Helicopters landed and took off every 10 min or so taking groups to Gillies for lunch at Gillie's and so on.

There were in fact service company hospitality trailers with escorts for their favorite and prospective customers. There were receptions in the evening all over town where escorts were actively working the crowd. Everything you have ever heard about OTC in the "ols" days is actually true or nearly so.

I was a toung low-level technical employee of a major oil companyat the time and did have a good time at OTC, but never got the E-ticket rides.

Those days have been GONE since the Mid 1980s!

yes Princss, but I was pretty young and a low-level lab tech, couldn't qualify for any of the complimentary fun amd had no money to P-F-P on my own.

Working with research professionals and engineers with purchase authority though, I assure you that about any story you may hear is either completely true or not that much of an exaggeration (Like—it didn't happen to him!).
