Default Lost my best friend

Tonight I held my best friend until his heart stopped beating. He had been a loyal supporter of mine through all kinds of turmoil in my life and never once judgmental about the decisions I made. I am devastated that my final decision was to end his life. The vet came to the house and administered the fatal dose, as I watched my best friend in life pass. I will miss you Dodge.

I am not a pet lover, but I know how attached people get to them. Sorry for your loss.

oh wow I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure Dodge was thankful to have had someone on this earth who cared and loved for 'em as you obviously did. Take comfort in the time that you have had together. Dogs do not fear death and whatever his condition was he will now be eternally pain free.

Default I know how you feel

Went through the same thing myself a couple of years ago. Almost the identicle senario. You certainly have my sympathy

Hey, the best therapy is to get a new puppy. It's almost like they reincarnate.

I could not even think about a new one yet. When you have that one perfect pup and spent as much time as I did training him, I do not think I could do it again. I got home the first day and was not thinking about it and the first thing I looked for was him. Damn near broke down just thinking about it.

This brings a tear to my eye. Three days before Thanksgiving last year I had to put down my American Bulldog who I loved for 13 years and 4 months. He loved greeting me when I came home, playin ball, bbq's, and cheeseburgers. He developed bone cancer in his shoulder. Watched him go downhill quick.....

Hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life was taking him on his last car ride to the vet.....

Still miss him.....

I am so sorry for your loss. I feel your pain. I had to have my best friend of 14 years put down a couple of years ago and it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I still wake up sometimes and look for her at the foot of the bed. I still can't bring myself to get another one.
