Traveling Buffalo/Rochester area

Hi Guys,
FINALLY putting the final touches on my travel arrangements to NY for August but I am not familiar with the Buffalo/Rochester area of the state. Im assuming you'd need a rental car? Those of us who grew up in the 5 boroughs never knew what a car was unless they had to go update! he he

Any advice as to transportation/travel between buffalo, rochester & albany would be a great help

Theres a amtrak train or Greyhound bus... which isnt bad. I have used both. I usually just drive because Buffalo and Rochester are only like an hour n half tops... albany is furthest from Buffalo obviously... 4 hours or so...

Rental car is always nice to have that freedom and a sometimes awesome car to drive for a lil bit.

You could use the upstate rapid rail system that we have spent millions studying and planning for the last 20 years. It probably won't be operational by August, but we may fund another study by then.
