Providers are people. They have friends outside of this hobby and a surprising number of them don't use burner phones. If the cops chase down every number that a provider talked with on her phone in the last month most of them wouldn't be hobbyists anyway.

Gotyour6 is correct...you need a hobby phone. And recommend updating every year or two. Yes, it's a pain in the arse, but then again, we take precautions (hobby e-mail, not access using work system, etc.) so it's a good opportunity to get another phone. Stay safe!

Nope - spend the funds and get a burner phone. Burner app has one issue, it resides on your personal phone. It may reveal your real information. Best to keep separation between your real life and the hobby life.
