I read the summary of a recent article that postulates that susceptibility to COVID is based on genetic material from Neaderthal interbreeding. Something like ~66% of asians carry the gene and about ~16% of Europeans carry the neaderthal genetic material in their DNA.

But race is a social construct ;-)

Over the past few decades the republican identity has changed, to be a republican today you have to decide to become voluntarily ignorant, puritan, attention seeking, fiscally irresponsible, perpetually-victim-claiming and rabid. I choose not to accept that as my binary choice.

I saw a twitter bit the other day that sums up this election well

If an individual does not have any forms of immunity to a specific virus, even a small exposure load can become an overwhelming case. The virus could replicate in the body unchecked.

If viruses worked as you stated, there would be methods to mitigate all virus in nature.
I don't disagree with a thing you posted. I believe you misunderstood my post, or jumped to a conclusion I didn't offer.

I didn't say masks are perfect. They are one important tool.

Oh you mean the Lincoln project run by former Republican consultants trying to pay off their massive personal debts? You realize these guys make hookers look principled, right? I mean these guys are the political equivalent of a no condom, bukkake sipping, BJ for 20 bucks, street walker. I don't care what you call yourself. If you think more government is the solution to every problem, you're no more a Republican than Rick Wilson ever was. Good riddance. I'd rather you be an open enemy than a Clandestine one.

What do you want to say? There's no difference but it's easy to decide? You can't even make a cogent argument here. Typical liberal bullshit - the parties are the same but vote liberal anyway because REASONS!

If you really believe the dreck you just wrote, you weren't ever a Republican. I won't bother arguing these points since you're flat out lying anyway. What platform change in the Republican party drove you away?

Hey texassapper..

Do you still think Trump will win 47 States, and win in a landslide?

Not sure I've ever said the number of states he's going to win or in a landslide or not.. I do expect him to win, but I also expect a lot of "found" mail-in ballots to appear and the Dems to attempt the steal from election nite. Of curse they will still do things like call Florida for Biden 2 hours before the polls close in the panhandle. Odd how those errors always keep happening and they only ever go in one direction.

The press and the Dems (I repeat myself) plan to not announce Trump the winner on election night. Biden will then likely not concede and then we will wait for the Dems to start "finding" ballots over the next week or two.. which will in turn cause the states to dither on certifying the electors to the electoral college. Lawsuits to stop/continue the process will be started....

If we get to 6th January and we still have states with competing sets of electors... that's when the shooting is going to start. Most of us remember 2000-2001 - this is going to make that look like an organized and peaceful process.

I should think DAs, State level Sec. of State, and various and sundry election officials should be on the short list of people that are going to draw the ire of people that have the skill to kill you from the next zipcode.

None of this ought to be news... the Dems have been quite vocal about laying the ground work to steal the election. That's why Biden has been hiding out and there is no Dem ground game... their strategy is all in on the steal. The press will do everything in its power to assist.

I'm of the opinion that it doesn't really matter. We're not going to get the liberal fascists to reverse course without shooting an ass ton of them. The fact that the Soros backed DAs are playing catch and release with criminals and prosecuting citizens defending themselves indicates that law and order can no longer be expected from our police forces.

Which means if I catch you committing a crime in my neighborhood, you better hope you can outrun a .30-06. And don't expect me to call the cops or worry about medical attention for the wounded. Criminals can bleed out in the street for all I care.

That was a lot of words to use, switching from ''landslide victory'', to ''will squeak out a win'', LOL

TX correct , I think it will be a "landside" but the LSM ( remember 2016) will not except the facts ( again) and the mail in voting crap will keep the chaos going (rioting) for as long as possible .

How many Delegates will Trump take?

Texassapper reneged on his ''landslide'' prediction, you're by yourself here.

First, I never once said that I was a 1 republican. As for as the Lincoln Project, they are only interested in their own gain and have proven that their members are only comfortable leading from behind. Plain and simple they are after personal gain over a prosperous country. Even though I do not agree with 100% with how the republican party conducts themselves, the democrats could never gain my vote because of their hate for the founding of this country. My line of thinking is would you rather get hit with a fly swatter or run over by a train. That's how I compare voting for the different parties.

I did not say they were not an important tool at all. With all due respect, you stated that if wearing a mask and spread the virus, those you infect will be less sick. This is totally inaccurate and that is what I was pointing out. I reread your post and there is no other conclusion that can be made from your statement. Maybe you should look at it agian

I'm not an MD, but I really don't think that's the way it works. I think there's a threshold number of virus copies that you have to acquire for it to take hold. Once it does, it's not the amount of virus that came in that matters, but how friendly of an environment your body is for the virus to thrive and replicate. It may be the strength of your immune system, genetics, comorbidities, or other unknown factors, but replication will quickly overwhelm the amount of virus that initially came in.

We can't stop the spread, all we can do is delay it...and wreck our economy in the process.

Since it can't be stopped, the simplest answer is to let it spread at a rate that the hospitals will not be overwhelmed... which we pretty much know isn't going to happen now anyway.
Yep, this is almost exactly what I heard many months ago from Dr. David L. Katz in a TV interview. He hasn't been heard from much since then because other "experts" got entrenched on TV, but I'm inclined to think that Dr. Katz was right and the others are all wrong. His point was that lockdowns don't really work, except possibly in a limited sense early on to avoid overloading the medical facilities. The reason is that you can't completely wipe out the virus. It's still out there, and when you release the lockdown it will make a comeback. There's really only two ways out of the situation, either a vaccine or herd immunity (unless the virus just naturally dies out, which this one doesn't seem inclined to do). His point was that you can't be sure we will get a vaccine, and it likely wouldn't be soon, so the best thing to do was protect the most vulnerable groups and let everyone else go about their business. It seems that this thing is impossible to control, so it looks like he was right.

I see that a bunch of people who work in the Whitehouse are testing positive. It seems that once it gets loose you really can't control it. Also New York, which thought they had things under control, is starting to have a bunch of new cases. And in California they're starting to enact some really dumb rules that say a county can't reopen until the case rate is uniform in all areas of the county, so a city in one corner of the county that has things under control may not reopen if a city in the other corner of the county still has a problem. And in NYC they're thinking of closing things down by zip code, as if people in the most affected zip code won't just go next door to a restaurant and spread COVID there. There is some really poor understanding of things and some really dumb decisions being made, it seems.

You are correct. The problem I have with Chung's premise, that if one wears a mask and spreads it then the person who gets it will have a milder case. If one is exposed and gets it, the defining factor on ones illness is their immune status and comorbidities, not whether they obtained the virus from someone wearing a mask or not wearing a mask.

I didn’t accuse you of being one. I simply responded to a comment in your post about partisan comments. But, since a democrat could never gain your vote, I’m unsure of why you wouldn’t claim to be one. Unless you, like myself, don’t want to be associated with the embarrassing behavior of today’s republican.

You are adept at rattling off 1980’s era talking points about smaller government and such. You would have to go back quite a few republican presidents to find an example of one who actually reduced the size of the federal government. And you do realize that 50% of the 2020 federal budget is financed by borrowing don’t you? Tax cuts without spending cuts is nuts. But, not when more borrowing is available to the Republicans I guess. We’re not quite Greece yet but we’re approaching it.

I’d post the charts but I don’t know how and the research group might not appreciate it either.

It took 10 minutes to figure out back in the Spring...lockdown for a couple of weeks - REMEMBER THAT? Seven months later.... and the authoritarian Nazis that tend to gravitate towards government employment are getting off on ordering the citizenry around. It's now entirely about politics and stealing the election.

And like Cuomo they're so stupid they will slap themselves on the back and in a couple years talk about tall the lives they saved. 'tards.

The BIG problem is that our polity is SO fucking feminized (that's right) that regular politicians are too chicken shit to stand up and say the truth. People are going to die. We can destroy our livelihoods and stay indoors like cowards for the next couple of years or we can accept that humans die and we move the fuck on.

This isn't killing kids.. this is killing Grandma. And lets face it Grandma's years were numbered anyway.

But with all things feminized - "If it saves one life it's worth it."

No.

No. it is not.
