WEEK 6 of the NFL opened last night with the Indy Colts (a team Dallas sees 4 days before Christmas) beating the H-town Texans (the team Dallas bumped in overtime last Sunday).
The Texans have incurred 2 losses in the span of 4 days dropping their record to 3-3.....coming back to earth a little and in the process questioning their bearded signal caller....their matador-like Offensive-line....their new headcoach's decisions....etc, etc. Life in the NFL, huh?
Anyway, a quick MATH QUESTION, Eccie Cowboys fans:
How does 29 + 28 + 20 + 18 = 7 ???
Well, upon further inspection....those numbers represent the Power Rankings (this week's at least) of the teams that Dallas has victories against this season, in order: Tennessee.....St Louis....New Orleans.....and Houston. The end result equals the power ranking of Dallas....coming in at # 7 this week (out of 32 teams, of course). Seventh....huh?
Oddly enough, the one team Dallas lost to (and a pretty convincing defeat, at that) is one slot below them (San Fran at #8). Strange.....
However, that said.... ranked in the top 25% looks about right for the Cowboys, believe it or not. Take a look across the landscape of the NFL and you'll see there's not a whole lot of good teams. We may not feel that way after they conclude Sunday's late afternoon game (Seattle is a terrific team....and that's such difficult place to play). You can bet dollars to donuts the Seahawks will play a whole lot better than they did this past Monday night in Washington.....just the fact it's the Cowboys, they'll be totally focused and on task.
A win in Seattle would be great, of course.....but realistically I think most Cowboy fans are just hoping Dallas doesn't completely unravel and get blown out in the first quarter.
Anybody who recalls the last time we were there, Felix Jones fumbled the opening kickoff and it went south from there.
The Cowboys simply need to come out of this game unscathed (no injuries) and get back to Dallas and be prepared for 3 consecutive home games....all very win-able. If they can do that, perhaps they will deserve that #7 power ranking.

Win lose or draw, the game with the Seahawks will be a good measuring stick for the Cowboys. They need to see just how they operate against a really good team.
Yeah, two years ago, they did not start out too good Felix Jones fumbled the kickoff and then the other Jones, Chris, had a punt blocked for a touchdown if my memory serves me correctly. Cowboys need to play a very clean football game and not give any cheap points to Settle.
Also two years ago, Whitten was playing just his second game with the bruised spleen. So he wasn't really at full speed. Anyone remember just who hit Whitten so hard that he got a bruised spleen???????
Rolando McLane in the last pre season game with Oakland.
All in all, I am looking at an entertaining game come Sunday.

Well, they technically have the best record in the league (4-1, tied with a couple other teams), and having them at say, 18, would look silly. They are winning games the way people would prefer, and that's by running the ball. They've won in different ways (by comeback, a blowout win, a blown lead but recovered and hung on). They beat New Orleans when the Saints really needed a win, and did so in style. I think they're ranked pretty fair at the moment.
If they win Sunday, they may have to be bumped to the top.

4-1 sucks, tony romo sucks, demarco murray has a good O-line... That's all I hear from the haters. Let's see how well they match up against Seattle IN Seattle and we'll go from there.

the advice I've forwarded to Garrett, but I don't know if he has the balls to go for it is:
hit Russell Wilson early, at the knees, get him out of the game halfway into the first quarter..
you have no chance otherwise..

Dallas hasn't beaten anybody with credibility and please don't say the Texans and Saints. Let's see how they do Sunday.

I agree, wildboy, as to "seeing how they do today" but the "credibility" thing is a moot point since no one in the NFL controls who they play season to season.....the schedule is the schedule.
If the Cowboys played the Jags, Jets and Raiders in consecutive weeks, it would matter not. Beat the teams you're supposed to.....stack W's and move on. As we know, you can't win the Super Bowl in Sept / Oct, but you can sure play yourself out of contention if you don't win the games you're favored in. Dallas, thus far, has done what they should have done. Beat lesser teams and don't apologize for it....move on.
With a 16 game season, the natural separation of good versus bad teams eventually plays itself out....cream rises to the top, as they say. Perhaps the Cowboys haven't proven anything yet since the quality of competition has been less than stellar.....today they can make a case as to whether they deserve to be recognized as a contender or just looked at as just another team.

That was pretty cool. I'm happy for Dallas.
I'm a Denver fan along with Katrina. I didn't think the Cowboys would win tonight either.
