OMG.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) says a semitrailer hauling cases of eggs crashed Tuesday afternoon in the northeast part of the state as winter weather moved through the area.

I'm sure Biden and/or Buttigieg are at fault for this semi full of valuable eggs crashing.

Let's also remember that some of the proposed Trump tariffs would also hurt orange juice.

So even if a Canadian OJ boycott doesn't hurt FL that bad, we the consumer will get smacked at the store when we're buying the increasingly foreign OJ we have come to love since FL's crops have been utterly decimated by climate, blight and natural disasters.

The Orange one needs to help bring down the price of OJ. It's what we the people deserve

Egg prices predicted to rise another 20 percent in coming weeks. All while the USDA scrambles to hire back people they fired that were working on bird flu. This would be darkly funny if it was not a likely predicter of more farces to come.

How to say you are clueless about where the problems are actually solved.

"The H5N1 bird flu outbreak in the United States began in March 2024. The first human infections occurred at the beginning of April" Not the day Trump was sworn in. The "Border Czar" was put in charge, she is gone now

Colbert suggested that Trump had an idea for Bobby and Brooke to fix the bird flu,

“I tell you what folks, have we tried deep-frying the birds in bleach?
...

with a side of honey mustard ivermectin.”

Is that the best you've got? Deflect from the fact that Biden did nothing to stop the "bird flu"

WRONG. Dates back to at least 2022. 2024 was the first cases of bird flu in cows....and humans.

Odd...if so, then why are the Trumpites screaming so loud about
'Biden killing millions and millions of chickens'?

Ya gotta admit Colbert's frying in bleach is a most excellent parody (or maybe not a parody) of a solution put forward by Trump.

Whatever, Trump has little to do with egg prices AND neither he nor his Secretaries (Bobby and Brooke) will do anything to lower egg prices in the near future.

But Donald's (on/off/on) tariff plans are all but a sure bet to increase prices for consumers. So are a number of other actions, raising the probability of stagflation.

Well your wrong again, the "bird flu" first appeared during the Obama/Biden administration. They had at least a year advanced notice and the flu shots to prevent it. 50 million people in the USA were infected. If it had been as deadly as Covid the results would have been disastrous. In 2009 " H1N1 flu is moving rapidly throughout the country and the majority of states now have widespread influenza activity"

Weren't we talking about the price of eggs and the 'bird flu' (the one that actual birds get)?

And it's you're (contraction for you are)...

No. I didn't say these things. See my quote below. You probably won't accept it though, since it isn't Newsmax or Townhall.

Um. No. I don't think I am. I didn't make it up. Sorry if you don't like it and that you are reduced to just insulting me.

Here is a press release from the very agency itself. Kind of hard to deny this. But I have faith you will try.

"Although several positions supporting HPAI (highly pathogenic avian influenza) were notified of their terminations over the weekend, we are working to swiftly rectify the situation and rescind those letters," a USDA spokesperson wrote in a statement shared with NPR."

A Mod should cite you for being Off Topic. I didn't say anything about the outbreak itself, human infections, or the date this epidemic began. THAT WASN'T MY POINT. My point was that Elon and VP Trump's "move fast and break shit" strategy fucked things up here. They fired people working on this. It's not the only example. And it is not helping anything, including grocery prices.

No, I don't think anyone willfully voted for higher prices. In the event they wished to do so, the direct way would have been to vote in not only Kamala, but clear majorities in both the House and Senate, possibly leading to inflation-stoking fiscal blowouts of the magnitude crammed through in 2021-22.

Notwithstanding, I believe the esteemed counselor intended to argue that tariff implementation, at least on a scale sometimes proposed by Donald, would be unambiguously inflationary.

In the event these high tariffs are actually imposed, he has a pretty good point.

However, here's the thing. Any adventure in governance with Trump is a little like Forest Gump's metaphorical box of chocolates. (You never know what you're going to get!)

Does he really think imposition of high tariffs is good policy, or is he simply using the threat thereof to extract concessions (whether real or illusory) from countries such as Mexico and Canada and trumpet the "victory?"

If the US gets better cooperation on things such as border security and crime-fighting, great. Who wouldn't be for that?

But you never know. Donald seems to be infatuated with the presidency of William McKinley, arguing from time to time that a high tariff wall during the late 19th century was wonderful and primarily what made America prosperous.

However, anyone who has read much about American economic history understands the ridiculous of that notion. (What made America rich during that era was all the innovation driving the Second Industrial Revolution!)

Sorry, but H1N1 was not the "bird flu". It was swine flu

But note:

The new H7N9 strain emerging in China does not make birds ill, for instance, but has been killing about a third of infected humans. The H5N1 strain, on the other, has evolved to kill birds and some humans who are infected from these birds.

But nothing to worry about with bleach boy and brain worm in control...
