Not strange at all considering the political weaponizing of Covid.
We were all shamed about the certainty that by not wearing a mask we were killing grandma but when it became more important to protest social injustice and then riot and loot, grandma was thrown under the bus.
Not only were people allowed to protest but a huge gathering was allowed to memorialize someone who died highly public death...as disgusting and tragic as it was. All the while loved ones of people who are dying in hospitals have not been allowed to visit them nor attend funerals or other memorial services. This actually happened to a friend. Her mother passed alone in a hospital and only 7 people were allowed to be graveside. It was not a Covid related death.
There is power in fear and uncertainty. People are going to turn to their leaders to ease their fears and look for stability. When leaders do just the opposite, or worse, infringe on their freedoms in order to give a false sense of security and stability it is no longer the country our founders intended.
