to call China's economic model a true capitalist model is wrong. China places so many restrictions on fair business competition that at best it's a bastardized model bred out of the failure of purely socialist models, which have completely failed at any level large or small. the Chinese were simply smart enough to realize the absolute failure of a model socialism is before it collapsed their economy and their control as it did in the former USSR. they only did it to stay in power. even the Russian Federation today is not true capitalism, because true capitalism does not allow for monopolies which is exactly what the oligarchs control. it doesn't matter that they are no longer government controlled, they are still government given, lock, stock and barrel. and the government can take away what they have given at a moment's notice. for any reason. that does not happen it true capitalist models.

china props up its stock market which is a government controlled market to begin with.that's not rue capitalism. China recently suspended trading of dozens of stocks. they do that if a stock drop more than 10% in a day's trading. in a real capitalist model we'd let the stock crash till the company was ruined and out of business. that's a real free market capitalist model, not the bastardized government controlled model of China or the Russian Federation.

If capitalism does not allow for monopolies, then we are not true capitalist. And how do you avoid monopolies, other than government intervention, which some would say is the mark of socialism. Also, we decided that certain auto companies and banks were too big to fail and propped them up government money.

regulations do not allow for monopolies. they promote fair entry into markets. that the government enacted regulations to break up monopolies such as Standard Oil was good for capitalism. ironically, in pure capitalist fashion it supposedly increased JD Rockefeller's net worth immensely and allowed many new oil companies to come into existence.

as for "too big to fail", GM and AIG and BofA should have been allowed to fail. pure market forces dictate they should fail. it was a mistake to prop them up even if they all eventually repay the bailouts funds they got.

according to this data the government has actually made 57B on the bailouts.
