Actually... professionals often take clients out to wine and dine them without doing business, especially important clients, or clients you think might be doing alot of business. They play golf to get clients, etc etc etc...
Lots of corporations have "expense/entertainment" accounts for just this purpose. I have a friend who is a software architect at Pharm corporation who regularly gets invited to dinner by vendors who he hasnt even purchased anything from just on the hope they might.
*shrug* Depends on how you want to build your business, and how you want your clients to feel aboutyou.

Entertainment can be very important for a company, even if it is not fully tax deductable now.
For years I represented first one, then another, of the Fortune 500 companies. I worked my way up to unlimited expense accounts. With clients, it was nice to have dinner. But when I moved into management I had to fly around the country and buy dinners almost every night for the company employees. I got very fat and became sick of it. It is difficult to order a light meal and expect your guests to go for a big steak.
All the flying and eating got old fast. I had to work hard to lose the weight.

Those companies have more than just one person working for them unlike us, we're just one person. Sometimes the time we work is limited and we have to use it wisely AKA make our money.
Dinner dates aren't for all. Don't knock the ladies who do charge for it and don't knock those who don't wish to pay dinner dates. It is what it is.
Why try to justify that us providers should go eat dinner for free with clients?
As a wise man once told me, "The one with the pussy, makes the rules." And yes, he was a hobbyist.

Actually, the ones with the money make the rules If you want the money that is... lol Ask Congress!
Anyway, not justifying anything, as I said, it just depends on how you want to build your business. Lots of lawyers and accountants are solo providers as well, which was the point I was responding to... that professionals dont... why should providers. They do actually. It appears its level of income that matters, not how many people do the thing in question. It's a choice.
Apparently, so do some providers in the escort business as well! Do what you will! The market has its way of evening things out in business.

I personally would be delighted to dine with many of the ladies who frequent this forum. I will buy of course. But I wouldn't pay provider time for the honor. If I ask and they accept a friendly outing then that is excellent.
If a lady asks me and I accept that is even more excellent.
No, that hasn't happened yet but might as well live in hope, eh?
If I ask and the lady declines, well, that is less excellent but certainly acceptable and understandable.
I don't have a point to make. I just finished my first martini and I'm thinking out loud. Nothing to see here, please move along.

I'm not going to quabble about who makes the rules, but I will say that the guys who visit with me follow my rules. If we didn't have rules to follow in any aspect of life, it'd be a worse world than what it is now. We all have rules...speaking as a provider. I'm sure you hobbyists have certain rules you like to follow also.
Yes, lawyers and accountants are "solo providers," but I honestly don't know one lawyer or bean counter that would take a person out for dinner unless you were spending BIG bucks with them. How many guys can say their attorney or accountant takes them out for dinner?
This business is just fine whether the ladies go out for dinner/lunch with a client for free or not. Ladies are working and guys are wanting to still spend time with them. Going out for lunch or dinner for free with clients is something that a provider should decide on her own and not because some guy or guys say its "building good business." Its not going to break a ladies business if she charges someone for dinner time. I'm sure every lady you've choosen to spend time with isn't based upon whether she will have dinner with you for free. Is it?
Building a good business in the hobby world should consist of being on time, have a good personality, being discrete, being safe, healthy, having good customer service, sticking to her guns when needed and most importantly, providing a good service to her clients.

Well any provider who thinks they control the rules, is just as foolish as the guy that thinks he controls the rule...how silly for any experience player to believe either one would be the case, lol
A guy finds a gal who provides what he is looking for, the gal connects with the guy who meets what she is looking for....so basically both parties connect on common ground...I would have thought that was obvious??
When I state, he with the gold makes the rule, basically, since it is the guy who makes the initial contact...he will do his homework first.
The gal he contacts, then does her due diligence. If there is a match then the two meet.
And yea, I do see my main attorney at least once a quarter, typically for lunch, but then dinner around the holidays. And NO I AM NOT A BIG spender, and I'm happy about that!!! We have known each other for many years, and although our friendship is solely professional, we stay in touch.
Anyone saying that only those spending the big bucks has that occasional diner/lunch with their attorney/accountant...well here's just another example where one person's apparently limited experience is being placed out as the gold standard, lol
I find that kind of amuzing.

Jackie, would you quabble me? Then we could go out for dinner. Or maybe that would be dinner.
Seriously, the ladies need to feel safe. There are probably some who will go out with a regular occasionally, and others who won't. It's not a big deal, I respect the lady's opinion. If I want to have dinner with a provider, and she doesn't want to, so what? I have had providers call and ask me out, even volunteered to pay for dinner. Others just don't want to do it. Not a big thing. If it happens, I enjoy it. If it doesn't, I go to Burger King and have my Whopper in the car.

No sorry guys. This is why I jump on you. This fallacious notion that the men are in charge. We are not accountants, we make our money in the most intimate way and if we want to be fascists about what goes on with our BODIES then we can and will. You can say that you vote with your wallet but at the end of the day I make a very nice living, by MY rules and I've managedto do it without seeing anyone in this thread. There is a very vocal, cliquish group of men that post very actively on this board and despite their approbation I have a nice little business indeed.
We make the choices. You might do your research but you still have to apply. Do not get confused. You see us by our permission only. That is part of screening. You can have all of the great references you could shake a stick at but if you followed me to Main and made a comment accusing me of lying about towels in a pet peeve thread (for which you got pointed lol) then your money doesn't spend here. A very specific example but a great one.
There is more money in this world than pussy. This is not Dallas. It is not a buyers market.

I see no reason to get upset by a provider's rules. If the rules prohibit what I want, I will simply go somewhere else. SG is right, it's their body, their time, they have the right to do with those what they want. I'd rather have a provider want to see me, than be worried about what I was going to want.
