Now it is clear or should be at least, that there was no pre-planning on how they would hold their "captured ground" and the penalties that will surely result in such folly. Now if these were committed Jihadist that didn't care whether they lived or died, that would be a different story but these were just emotionally stunted idiots who obviously never thought this through.
Naw, another attack like that, at the same place, never going to happen, but BLM and Antifa attacks on federal buildings and assaults on police officers, well, that's a whole different story which will be overlooked as the last riots have been over looked
Just an opinion.
And yeah, when law enforcement is un-prepared or simply unwilling to re-act as they did in major cities all last summer, things will go south very fast.
To bad when all those Mayors' said violence will not be tolerated, didn't mean it and had no plan to stop what they said they would not allow.

Compare the Jan.6th incident with the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago. The Police had intel on the possibility of large scale rioting. They had a plan to keep mayhem from entering the Convention. Mayor Daley supported his Department. Chicago PD had the training, the equipment and the man power to manage the incident. If you have ever seen the footage Chicago PD made several arrest and unfortunately they kicked the ever living shit out of the protesters. Capital Police were playing "Paddy Cake" in comparison. The Jan.6th incident could have been handled a whole lot better.
