You can be arrested because your farts stink, getting a conviction is another matter.

And if lives were ruined, it was because they choose to participate in an illegal hobby, which, is something everyone on both sides knows well in advance is a possible outcome.

The law sucks, unfortunately, you can't blame the cops for doing their jobs.

Doing them badly is another matter, but probably far beyond the control of anyone here.
