I've been told that a farmer that can't keep back fire ants will (with the help of a buddy), simultaneously take a shovel full of dirt from each of two mounds.....

.....and then dump each shovel on the opposite mound.

Fairly quickly.....the mounds kill each other.

Over time a "Super Fire Ant" will emerge from the process of natural selection.

I think Darwin (et al) sort of figured that out a long time ago.

Fire ants don't last long in my yard, and my neighbor allows me to "treat" them in her yard when I'm eradicating mine! I also water her yard at times in the "common grass" areas to make sure it remains healthy and doesn't spread any "diseases" into my yard. I also keep our common fence in good repair.

But I'm old school: "Good fences make good neighbors"!
