Did the tax cuts result in a decrease in the amount of federal government revenues over what they would have been otherwise? Well, yes. But so what? Taking money away from a wasteful and inefficient federal government and leaving it instead in the private sector, which is the engine of growth and prosperity in our country, is a good thing. Lower the growth in the rate of spending. Don't increase the level of taxation.
Yes I get it Tiny....you are one of those VP Cheney lovers who ascribe to the principle that "Debt doesn't matter"....well unless the debt is from giving the poor money/rebates.

Forgiving student loans is bad debt....tax cuts for the wealthy is good debt

Yes. Please note that that the Ryan/McConnell/Trump tax cuts and much of Trump's deregulatory agenda didn't kick in until 2018. And in one year, 2019, real median household income increased more than it did during the entirety of the George W. Bush and Obama administrations.

I get it WTF. You're one of those people who SUBscribe to the principle that welfare is best given to upper and upper-middle class people like the college-educated (with student loans), instead of hard working blue-collar high school graduates.

I'm pretty sure the tax cuts for individuals during the George W. Bush and Donald Trump administrations were done in a way that made the tax system more progressive. The reduction in tax rates was more at the lower end than the upper end. You've gotten sucked in by the propaganda of Washington politicians who want high taxes so they can suck up more money to spend on pork.

What we hardly ever know in these snapshots is if A caused B or did an unknown C cause B.

Which is why I wanted a longer bet with that faux economic guru.

Did you read the post where lustylad pointed out how the Reagan tax cuts increased income inequality? That was hilarious....he was trying to make some other Uncle Milton point.

On a serious note, if there is such a thing in this forum....without doing any research, my guess is that household income is increasing because of the lower unemployment numbers. The lower unemployment numbers will probably be a trend as more baby boomers are leaving the workforce than Gen X'ers or whatever the latest age group is called.

That is why it is imperative we have comprehensive immigration reform. Imho.

I agree, in part anyway. The corporate tax cuts and deregulation during Trump's term left more money in the private sector. As a result more jobs were created. The labor market tightened. Wages and median household income increased much faster than the CPI. Other factors were at play too.

Some of our Trumpian friends, who believe China poses a huge threat to the USA, should reconsider some of their views about immigration. The Chinese are now abandoning their "one child policy" and encouraging their people to breed. If we are able to remain number 1 in the world, immigration will play a part.

I believe however that the Waco Kid had a good point. We should not be encouraging immigration of Central American gang members. Instead we should bring over engineers, scientists, doctors, nurses, mechanics and the like. And of course more immigrants from socialist autocracies like Cuba and Vietnam, as they tend to vote for Republicans. Finally, immigration of shapely, young Venezuelan, Thai, FSU and Colombian women must have a high priority, preferably with some new sort of temporary "stripper visa", so we can ship them back home when they get old and fat.
