Not sure if that post was pointed at me mate...?
But, I'll answer anyway.
I'm well versed in Marx actually. The Labour Party for which I'm a member is considered to be a Democratic Socialist party with a capitalist flavour. We aren't as socialist as certain ideologies in France & Germany mind you. But, that's a chat for a different thread. In the end I agree mate; people do tend on using political words out of context.
THN: Although, I'm from an Island nation we Brits do indeed consider ourselves European. I've ridden all sorts of transport all over Europe and never gotten stuck in some shite hole in the bloody middle of nowhere. And, that included riding on some proper shite railways seeing relatives in Kiev. Issues that you were describing May more accurately be pointed at countries such as Bulgaria, Bosnia, Croatia, etc...I served in Bosnia before & during that whole festering turd of a mess and that is where your example holds true.

Idk man, in 2001 I got stuck in Marseille for four days, then a few days later in Nīmes stuck for another few days. Best unexpected stays of my life!!! It was awhile ago but a few good friends still live throughout Italy and Germany as well as some family in the north and its just a different pace. Not that it is bad, but you can tell the private sector doesn't drive the business climate like it does here.
I was just addressing st8's claim that America is the most socialist country in the world. It isn't. Not by a long shot. Philosophical practicum is a far cry the from the economic realities of diapers and whoring.
(Fyi ladies, southern France has the hottest fucking rugby players on the face of the earth!) *fans face*

Fuck rugby luv! It's footy that's the religion! If you fancy hot guys footballers are the fittest in the world. We (past tense) run for 90+ minutes...rugby players are usually stocky and a bit fat. Google Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Luke Shaw, Adam Lulana, obviously Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Teddy Sheringham, I could go on but why bother lol. This is America and most think football is a socialist sport lol. Sorry to rant on but the French rugby comment hit a nerve. The French are proper T-W-A-T-S...plus those cunts ought to shower once in a while.

Someone coming onto the board and asking for help with diapers is by far the LEAST of social issues on Eccie. I cannot even begin to count how many girls there are around here who make 1000-1500/week or more, cash in hand... who are on welfare because they flat out lie to the government. FFS-- I do this so that I WON'T be on the public dole. Can't understand the mentality of making a ton of cash and still collecting those food stamps every month.
The simple fact that she was on here asking for help with a basic need tells me that she is probably not be one of those people. And for at least that, I can applaud her. Yeah, not the best place on Earth to go for help, but a LOT of us live the majority of our lives on this side of the line-- many of us don't have a large civilian social network, because it is just too damn complicated to maintain two lives.

Not pointed at you at all, Bro. It just runs me hot when people kick people when they're down. I don't give a shit if someone's a hooker, a crackhead, or a midget. If they need help with good and such, I don't mind helping...if I feel like it. But I'm not gonna talk down on their life choices for asking. That shit comes back around. And we've all had somebody's help along the way.

Remembering a time when some of the men in the neighborhood were forced to work for $6 a day sometimes - that is six, not one hundred sixty - to make ends meet, doing my homework from the light of a kerosene lamp after a meal of beans and cornbread - I KNOW life can be hell.
People 'f' up. People get hooked on 'forbidden topics' including the liquids readily available. Some people play the 'system' unaware they're getting played BY the system to never realize what they can do or achieve and are slaves to it. Some people do all they know how to do and crap still comes along to turn their lives upside down. It's one thing for someone to be in the crap all the time which hints at them being their own worst problem and quite another for some unforeseen event(s) to trip them up.
Good advice given in a spirit compassion should be well taken. But if someone is hungry or needs shelter clothing, whatever - good advice isn't all they need. I don't know BabiGurl21 personally, but I met her and if I stood and quoted from the best philosophy and self-help gurus, it wouldn't have meant a thing at that time for the needs of the little baby she had in her arms. Hopefully this is just a bump in the road that she will get over and the advice AND the help will get her through it.

Wise words str. You have a pure heart. Your posting style is just a cover. You failed to put your tough cover on this post and revealed your soul to us. You're a good guy.
