Most of the aforementioned advice is good. Punctuality and WYSIWYG (old computer jargon for "What you see is what you get"). Posted pictures should be current and what you look like when hobbyist arrives. Using 3-5 year old pictures and not being truthful about dimensions is one sure way to spoil expectations.
While on the subject of pictures, and having been a former pro photographer (news & sports publications), it doesn't take much more effort to shoot a nice image. The majority of the picture I see posted are horrible and aren't helping your cause. Self portraits in a hotel bathroom mirror are neither accentuating the positive nor concealing the negative. Get a girlfriend to help you take some nice pictures, even if it is with a camera phone. Most camera phones are now 5-10 MP, plenty of resolution for the internet. Clean the lens every once in a while.
AND, when using a camera phone to take pictures, go to the privacy settings and turn off "Location Services" so your GPS coordinates are not attached to the image file as metadata. This metadata stays with the image when you post on-line and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to retrieve the data and figure out where you are. This data places you in specific location at specific time. LE just loves this info.
I am not looking for a job, I am just saying, find images you like in a magazine or on-line and figure out how to re-create them. What image are you trying to project, wholesome girl next door, sophisticated uptight business woman, hot MILF, stripper, etc. You don't need $$$ of equipment. Use natural soft light, compose the picture with a little thought, edit and crop, and if you don't like what you have then re-shoot until you get it right. You don't need to "Photoshop" the images either. Some minor tweaks in basic photo editing software at most to correct colors, exposure and cropping is all you need.

All this is great advice, but I consider most of it basic to the profession, however, there are two things that probably get overlooked a lot because like speaking, teaching, consulting and athletics, this is a performance art. I would mention two:
1. Focus - be present in the moment (turn phone off, forget rest of life just for a bit)
2. Smile with eye contact - it will cover a multitude of sins.
Oh, and hygiene, hygiene, hygiene.

Agree
Add to it, my following
1. On a outcall to my nice hotel, do not show up advertising your hobby. Have some discretion about you. Showing up looking like you just walked off the strip club stage with a overnight bag telling everyone within ear shot you will be leaving in about 2 hours, does not bode well for me ever calling you again.
2. Don't call to reschedule me to fit another appointment in before mine.
Extra points if
1. You seduce me ahead of time
2. You flirt with me over drinks
3. You initiate BCD

If you show your face in your pictures - please smile. No fish face.
Empty the trash can. I don't care to see another guys DNA.

Don't bring up the SO unless for some reason I do it first. I can't count the times I've been asked, "so, does your wife know what you're doing?" Or something of that nature. Biggest mood killer ever. With that said, I don't care to hear about your boyfriend/ baby daddy troubles either.

I've been guilty of that before but its a learning process. Initial small talk can be uncomfortable when dealing with new people on a regular basis. Breaking the ice in a RW 1:1 setting would generally involve introductory topics like job and/or family. If you are transitioning from a very "normal" civvie life like I did, learning those topic boundaries is a challenge at first. That being said, I have never come out and asked a client if their SO knows what they are doing - cmon. I mean, that's just kinda nosey/presumptuous/judgmental/off-putting. I figure if they want me to know details about their life they will tell me. If I sense a man wants to chat more before the fun starts I may ask some things but I keep it very general (i.e. instead of "what do you do for a living," something like, "what industry are you in?"). Personally I like a little small talk, but I'm definitely looking forward to the bcd time so I can really start to show off.

I'm the absolute worst person in the world about hanging up clothes. I aspire one day to be a consistent and efficient clothes hanger-er.
Gotta have goals.

Balconies work well, too. Providing it isn't a windy day.
