It takes players....talent.....ability. And Dallas simply does not have any of that on the defensive side of the ball.
To go 9-7 as you've suggested, Dallas will need to go 7-4 the rest of the way. So....in essence....lose only 4 more games in the next 11.....on the heels of amassing 3 losses already in only the first 5.
The numbers don't add up. Especially since Dallas faces the following QB's the rest of the way:
Drew Brees
Matthew Stafford
Jay Cutler
Eli Manning
Aaron Rodgers
Each one of them are capable of throwing 400+ yds per game and multiple TD's against this sieve of a defense. And 4 out of 5 of those qb's are capable of hanging another Loss on Dallas' record. That means no margin for error in any of the other games.
Dallas can only hope they achieve another 8-8 record this season. And to do that, Romo may have to have games akin to yesterday's effort in order to outscore the opposition.
In 1989, Jimmy Johnson gave Jerry the blueprint for future successes and championships on a silver platter......and Jerry the Wheeler Dealer GM has chosen to ignore the most important edict in football: Stop the other team from putting the ball in the endzone.
And for God's Sakes.....Denver may go another decade or two before they play another game where their punter never sees the field.....he could've stayed home and watched the game from his sofa yesterday. What an embarrassment. In 29 years of coaching, Tom Landry's teams never allowed such a thing to occur.
But hey....easier for the bashers to blame Romo for the sins of an idiot owner / GM, right?
|
Jerry has addressed the defense several times in the draft. He just keeps thincking he is a football guy and wastes the pick.

And yet the 2013 interception machine Eli still has two more superbowl rings than..... Romo (all stats, serial choke artist extraordinaire)
(btw, I'm no Giants fan)

The Cowboys are a long way from an elite team like the Patriots for example, but they did good last night and with the sorry division they are in, perhaps if you are 8-8, that team will win it, and the Cowboys are on their way to that type of season of winning one, losing one, ect.
Not being a hater, as Dallas is my favorite team, just stating facts!

I don't hate the Cowboys, just like bashing them. The Dallas Cowboys and their fans think they are superior to the other teams in the NFL But with their past seasons and loosing in the playoffs as they have done just proves the Boys in Blue are not superior in any way. Besides I just like bashing the Cowboys, always have and always will.

Everyone has their opinions and all and you most certainly have a right to yours, but what makes the Cowboys so popular and have the tv ratings they do is because about half of those viewers are cheering on the Cowboys to win, the other half is hoping for them to lose.

The Cowboys are in the same status as the Yankees and Notre Dame. They draw huge crowds whereever they play. They're either loved or (your choice of an unflattering word).
The Cowboys won last night, but in the wake of the game, their defense really got beaten up.

Dallas' initial drive of the game was sharp....outside of that, the offense didn't do much at all. Kuddos to special teams player Dwayne Harris....those two returns were huge.
The Giants are basically done at 0-6. It's not likely they'll win 8 of the final 10 to finish with a .500 record so you can kiss them goodbye. And if the Redskins don't manage to turn it around soon (sitting at 1-4 right now), they're playing out the string the rest of the way as a spoiler.
Neither Philly nor Dallas (both at 3-3) look like they can make any noise come playoff time......both are terribly thin on defense and (potential) injuries will further decimate them as the season wears on. While it's a long way off until January (playoffs), it's highly unlikely the NFC East will have anything to do with who makes it to the Super Bowl this year.

Philly (3-3) vs Dallas
Dallas (3-3) @ Philly
Wash (1-4) vs Chicago (4-2)
Giants (0-6) vs Minnesota (1-4)
Chiefs could very well be 9-0 when they meet Manning and the Broncos on Nov 17. With a bye the week before, Reid will have two weeks to get ready for Manning and company. Dallas's one point loss to the Chiefs, 17-16, in week 2 doesn't look so bad now. It is the Chiefs closest game so far.

Cowboys (4-3) @ Lions (4-3)
Eagles (3-4) vs Giants (1-6)
Wash (2-4) @ Broncos (6-1)
Giants (1-6) @ Eagles (3-4)
Giants finally win one. NYC newspapers were pretty harsh still. Here are a couple of headlines.....
"WE ARE No 1..........and 6"
"Somebody worse"

If I were Washington I'd play RGIII the first quarter so he keeps his brain on and let him heal. The year the Giants won a superbowl Manning couldn't find a receiver or his ass till halfway through the season. Flaco is suspect, Brady isn't mobile, and a number of teams just flat suck. I don't think KC is all that, and Denver, as well as 90% of the NFL doesn't have a secondary, Big Ben finally won a couple and he knows how to win. This could be the season where none of the spotless record teams get there, may depend on who's willing to slug it out down the stretch and who has the fewest on injured reserve. Watch somebody pull a third string 5th rounder off the bench to play QB, or even worse, somebody has a Brady or a Montana sitting behind a shmuck, shmuck goes down and they win it all. Hey, I'm an optimist in a shitty season of lousy teams!
