OK, I admit my first thought was, "who are the girls that do this?" Please list them, and their phone numbers... I mean, inquiring minds want to know, ya know?
I also think the OP is under-rating the power of conversation as a selling tool, and optimistic in her accounting methods.
Having said that, I am coming down on her side of this rowdy thread.
A few years ago a provider friend of mine from another state came to visit, and decided to work while she was here. We spent 10 days pretty much together, other than her sessions of course, and it was a real eye opener to see the other side of things that closely.
First of all, it was tough to have a conversation for a few hours after she posted an ad (she was a CL girl) because her phone was constantly ringing, and it surprised me how few actual bookings came from all those calls. It had nothing to do with her services, which were practically unlimited. Her pics were hot, and accurate, and her prices were in the ad. It was just pretty obvious that some guys enjoy the phone version of window shopping, and a few of them enjoyed making appointments with obviously no intention of keeping them.
There were some that would call 4 - 5 - 6 times over the course of a week, always with a new question, and try to turn the inquiry into a conversation / phone sex. My friend would answer the question, most often in a way that logically should result in an appointment ("yes, I do that, and no, it's not extra. When would you like to make an appointment?"). The number of guys who told her they wanted an appointment, but would need to call back later to schedule, was truly embarrassing. The number who did call back, but instead of wanting to meet, had another question, was pitiful.
By the way, her phone had a feature that would tell her how many times a number had appeared in caller ID, so she knew before she answered if it was a new number, or one that had called 5 times already.
I was only hearing one side of the conversations, but she said that sometimes it's pretty obvious that the guy has his dick in his hand, as he asks her to describe her BBBJ technique, or how she likes to be licked.
Her attitude, and it seemed reasonable to me (still does), was that getting them off on the phone was a sure way to guarantee that they would NOT be making or keeping an appointment.
I would say that her ratio of calls to completed appointments, as a new girl in town with no regulars, was 15-20 to 1, and sometimes the calls would come back to back, as in 3-4 calls in a 10 min period. About 1 in 5 appointments was a NCNS.
If she had "entertained" every call that was looking for a conversation, she would have had to let about a fourth of the calls go to voice-mail, and the two of us would have never had a decent conversation. She told me that the number of completed appointments she normally got from voice-mails was WAY worse than actual calls, and since she had no regulars in Dallas, voice-mail was going to be all but worthless for income. (Most guys don't leave a message, and don't call back. Those that leave a message more than likely don't answer when she calls back, if it's more than a few minutes later.)
That would suggest that if the goal is more sessions, the trick is in answering every call possible, and not tie up the phone with "tire kickers".
It also explains why the lower class girls (who don't seem to care about getting repeat customers) will answer their phone(s) during a session.
The dynamic may be a little different than CL girls, for an established provider on P-411, but my guess is, not enough to change the result. My friend already had provider status on ASPD in her home state, and posted an ad in the Dallas section, but according to her, ASPD didn't change the numbers much, and guys were guys, regardless of the website they surfed.
