One approach is proactive... The other, not so much. I think the assumption is that all women are weak, and will dissolve into tears at any harsh word said to their face. The fact of the matter is that, as much of a subculture this might be, we are all actual human beings, not binary code or fembots or ATMs. It would behoove us all to act that way; if you're not comfortable saying something to someone's face, perhaps you should reevaluate the need to say it. If you are comfortable saying something to someone's face, try doing it in a positive manner so that their mind won't automatically close against what you are saying. As far as whether someone can take criticism or what gets said about someone. I discovered along time ago that as long as I limited what I said about someone no matter what the circumstance was to something that I would say to their face I found it worked very well. I wasnt always the greatest one to gossip with or tear someone done about, but I never had to worry about being confronted by someone over something I allegedly said. I was still able to express myself but it sure has made life easier.

This has been going on since before Dearhunter wrote his "prophet" screed years ago on ASPD. I had lots to say about that at the time, but then I finally realized that there are broken people in the world, and there's not much anyone else can do to "fix" them, so just be thankful that you aren't one of them and don't have to walk around all day acting like that. I don't imagine it's a pleasant way to live.

Ultimately, life's too short to worry much about broken people who see no problem with their own rude behavior. They'll try to justify rudeness by claiming they're just being "honest" or some such nonsense, and that's fine. Let them delude themselves - none of them sound like happy people to me. Once you realize the type of person comments like those are coming from, they no longer have any impact.

But I agree with whomever it was who said that the character of the site is dictated by those who manage it. If they wanted to clean up that sort of thing, they could. And if they did, it wouldn't surprise me if you did start to see more participation here from normal, polite people who have no interest in rolling around in the mud with the poorly mannered or the psychologically stunted.

I learned how to walk away from this hobby many years ago when things in life step forward and indicate to me that sometimes priorities need to be rearranged...or I just get fed up with the bullshit.

I've been on hiatus going on a year now...and I'm still not really interested in stepping back into the playpen just yet. Sometimes I just like to see whats going on in here from time to time, and then I step back out and close the door again.

I have already accepted the fact that I will probably never really retire from this lifestyle, so chances are pretty high that one day I'll be back...whenever that is. Until then...

Reading this thread just proves Justin did write great informative entertaining reviews. And that some self serving, think they know all and are lord of the site, will always be the asshole he is!
