keep all visitors from West Africa out, period! at least for a time, until the Ebola outbreak is contained..
the guy in question was screened as he left Liberia.. he didn't have the symptoms then, so screening was futile.. there are procedures to speed up a Visa process, it can be done in 24 hours in some cases.. I have no idea how long the process took here, just relaying the information.. at the very least, he knew when he left Liberia, that he had likely been exposed.. if the Visa had been applied for, say, 6 weeks prior, he should have self-imposed a travel ban, knowing his personal history.. the International Travel community should have kept him from flying out of Liberia to Belgium, D.C., and Dallas..

Go to travel.state.gov the wait time for a visitors visa from Monrovia Liberia embassy is 23 calendar days. I highly doubt he knew he was infected and went to the US embassy to get a visa that same day or during his incubation period because by now we would be hearing on the news that the embassy staff were at risk or potential risk however lack of this clearly signals he probably got his visa before infection. He probably could have after the landlords daughters death, he could have suspected that he had Ebola based on his contact with her and since he already had the US visa, he could have then jumped ship to come here.

I'm sure the screeners at the Liberian airport are asking travelers if they have been in contact with anyone recently (within the last 21 days at least) who has/had ebola. He knew he had been exposed and flew anyway thinking the incubation period would be safe. And it wasn't.

That's may be so, there is a yahoo news article saying that the Liberian government may prosecute him for not being truthful on his travel documents

In regards to him knowing he was exposed and coming here explicitly to get cured. Along with Grace's comment about how long it takes to get a Visa, you also need to realize the cost of just a plane ticket to get here from there and how 99.9% of these people can barely afford more than a tin shack to live in. The man has probably been planning and saving for a long time for this trip. Instead of buying into some theory about how he's an opportunistic medical tourist, I tend to think he has been saving for the trip for a long time, he gets direct exposure to an Ebola patient in Liberia, lies on his form at the airport because he wants to come see his family, doesn't want to lose the plane ticket and all the $ it cost to buy it. Seriously, how much would a plane ticket cost for that trip on short notice?

I don't assume we would have heard Embassy personnel was being tested... just yesterday we learned there was almost nobody at risk here, to 80 quarantined this morning..

Now endangering all those peoples lives without mentioning it is beyond a dipshit move. If he willingly and knowingly endangered all those people's lives, they should just take him out back, shoot him and burn him. Just think the doctor that diagnosed him probably went home to his or her family and put them in danger. I'm sure it took time for the test results to come back.

Now they are saying this morning that he may have come in contact with more people than they originally thought. BS.

One of his neighbors at the apartment complex here in Dallas said he had met Duncan three times over the years when he came to visit family.
So it's likely Duncan planned to come to Dallas before being exposed to Ebola. It was a regular destination for him.
His sister visited him about a month before he left Liberia. This is a family with the means to make these long trips back and forth to visit each other.
It really doesn't add up to a last-minute trip to Dallas.
Here's a little quote that worries me:
"His whole family was screaming. He got outside and he was throwing up all over the place," resident Mesud Osmanovic, 21, said on Wednesday, describing the chaotic scene before Duncan was admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian.
Who cleaned that up?? (and how?) Were any dogs, cats, squirrels, birds around the mess before it was cleaned up?? Animals can carry the virus and transmit it.

Well it's too late now, the disease is here so we either contain it or this becomes an episode of the walking dead.

Don't expect Obama to take the necessary steps...........in 2010 he rolled back the quarantine standards that Bush had put in place.

I also think the CDC/the govt dropped the ball here too. Not going to go into politics however this administration is rather incompetent especially in its handling, its preparation for and it supportive measures when it comes to this disease. Regardless the CDC is not the administration however due to the fact that the buck should stop with the president ergo the administration and the CDC are both incompetent.
