Do you remember outfits like Petro Lewis and Damson that were selling oil and gas partnership interests way back in the day? Nobody made money who invested in them. They were just wasting money on lousy prospects. But the investors didn't care, because of the great tax write offs. That was until Ronald Reagan came along and helped shut them down. I explained that over in the how are we going to pay for all this shit thread, but didn't hear a peep out of WTF.
What were gasoline price back when Reagan was president? Maybe $0.80 a gallon?
The Reagan administration eliminated price controls on oil, gasoline and natural gas. And it got rid of the Windfall Profits Tax. How well would WTF's energy companies be doing if they were still subject to price controls and a windfall profits tax? Saudi Arabia and Russia would really have us over a barrel.
It's really hard to get WTF to admit that Reagan was the greatest president of our lifetimes. He should give thanks every day that Ronald Reagan was our president.
Like you said I just need to give up, WTF won't listen to reason.
Some of the progressive democrats have introduced bills to go after oil companies for price gouging and to impose a new Windfall Profits tax. Didn't they learn anything from the 1970's? From the Ukraine/Russia war? It's crazy.
