I was amused at the one thread that talked about a spill of 5 football fields. One tanker truck involved in an accident would cause that much and it happens all the time.
Liberals don't want people driving cars ..at least not ordinary people.
From an Obama speach back in 2007: "Not only do we have to invest in mass transit, but we have also have to make sure that, we also have to make sure that people are making good decisions about cars. And their freedom--people are, you know, people are free to buy a [Chevrolet] Suburban if you want, it gets 8 miles a gallon but we can't subsidize to make sure that you have--you are able to fill up your Suburban tank at a really cheap rate because that's not the trajectory of oil prices worldwide. "
You have to love Chuck Schumer. There is an abundance of natural gas in upstate New York but they are not letting it be mined. Instead they are content to use home heating oil. They are willing to subsidize that. Do you have any idea how much of an increase in heating bills if they required their residences to convert to electricity? Are you aware of just how nasty this is to the environment?
