Those that crossed the border seeking asylum and are here awaiting their hearings are NOT criminals. Those that entered the country under temporary provisions, such as the Haitians in Ohio, are NOT criminals.

The folks guilty of misdemeanors or felonies under 8 U.S.C. §§ 1325 and 1326 are criminals.

1325 is illegal entry. 1326 is illegal re-entry.

I have never posted that our current system is not highly flawed. It obviously needs to be radically modified. What I have posted is that to paint them all with a broad brush and act like they only come here to commit crimes is just silly fear mongering bullshit that Trump tries to exploit. Sure, some are criminals, but the vast majority are not. The same as what we will always have here with or without them.

let's also mention that both US and International law requires people seeking asylum to apply at the first safe haven they reach .. not on purpose keep gong till they reach America.


half of these people at a minimum will never qualify for asylum. some of them know they won't because they know they have criminal records and some have been denied asylum already. they aren't allowed to apply again at all in many cases and at best must wait a period of years before they apply again.

any of these people applying again when they know don't qualify are lying on the asylum application. that alone makes them criminals.
